From my first hand experience the first few socials I went to, I was shocking for just sitting with the people I knew, leaving early etc

But as my confidence has grown and probably cause I know a lot more people I get up and chat and mingle a lot more. Introduce people to each other etc

I have held a few afternoon socials to make it easier as there is no expectations, no alcohol involved, no cost etc

By chatting on the forums you will get to know people and if they going to socials try and meet up with them even if only to say a quick hello.

Op....a social is just a few hours in a pub or cafe.....nobody wears a big sign saying fabswingers

Just chat normally to whoever you meet there....man or woman...

If you're really nervous bring a gimmick......like Donuts

All of the above (except for Jonny's advice)

Join any Kik chats beforehand and if its a large social where it can be hard to get talking to people, try to arrange to meet someone in advance and walk in together (even a guy).

Don't see guys as competition, they can help you in your journey. The most successful (straight) guys have male friends that they made on here

The smaller socials are easier because you get to talk to everyone and you usually don't need to be meet verified in advance.

I attended one of DD socials during the summer. DD was great at introducing me to people eventually I got chatting to a sexy lady, who has great style and we still chat to one another. Just be yourself.

Go with a few dad jokes up your sleeve. Or go chat to someone and ask them the most random question like - if someone gave you and elephant and you couldnt get rid of it what would you do? Great way to start conversations. I find if you dont care if you embarrass yourself youll have a good laugh

Wear a kilt. Act all mysterious and aloof and just keep crossing your legs. It's only a matter of time before someone approaches you

outside belfast x

Just be yourself as if your just down the local pub well socials are basically that so just get chatting to even one person explain your new and wouldn't mind being introduced to their friends.

Always good to chat to people attending socials beforehand I've been to loads now and I only joined fab before first lockdown and had loads of socials and meets are very few and far between but that's how I like it! No pressure and no expections makes for a great social night x

.

I've always found at these things that you need to make the most of the night and nearly put on your politicians hat and try and chat to as many people as possible so basically it's all about shaking peoples hands and trying to be as confident and comfortable as possible.

Do the same thing you’d do if you were in a busy pub or nightclub. Just be yourself, mingle and have some craic
