Hotel recommendations within an hour or two of Dublin

Hey!

I'm looking for a hotel break in a fancy hotel. Somewhere within 2 hours of Dublin.

€325 is my budget per night.

I'd like somewhere that's scenic, but easy enough to get to by public transport. Or somewhere with plenty of restaurants and outdoor activities etc nearby.

I'm asking a lot I know! But I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Wineport lodge near Athlone , about 1.5 hrs from Dublin by train

It's got a fabulous restaurant and there are lots of watersports activities available on the Shannon river plus forest hikes and biking trails close too

Ooh thanks for the recommendations! I'm loving Wine Port Lodge but no availability for the date we want.

Slieve looks lovely too. But not sure if it would be easy enough to get around without a car? I'll look more into it.

2 hours is a long way from Dublin, you'd be in Waterford from Dublin in 2 hours on the motorway, which is at the bottom of the country.

I don't drive so it would be by public transport which kind of cuts my options a bit.

It's gorgeous! And Enniscorthy holds a very special place in my heart. I'm going again next year and I've bookmarked the Monart as a potential place to stay. So thank you for bringing it to my attention. And thank you for your very kind offer beautiful.

There are good buslinks directly from the Airport to all the cities so don't limit your options

Well thanks to this thread we have found somewhere close to Athlone now and booked it. I didn't even think of Athlone but it looks like a good spot with everything I'm seeking. Close enough to the town centre and divine scenic views and lakes. I'm excited now.

Oh definitely! I stayed two night there a few years ago.

Not sure it's served by public transport for the OP though. Glaslough is the village it's in.
