"The athletic or muscular look in a guy? just a strong one dad bod type
I'M WITH @THE SECRET GARDEN.. GIVE ME A STRONG DAD BOD ANY DAY OVER, A SIXPACK MADE IN THE GYM. "
What are the reasons? If you don’t mind me asking.
I was recently turned down by a woman even though we both liked each other as she would feel self conscious due to me being gym fit/athletic and she wasn’t, wondering if this would be common place. |

Was it me.. lol
For me, although I am quite happy with my body & like how I look, I am aware of my flaws & someone who works hard on their body composition I feel may judge me by their standards & I like to feel I'm one of the hottest in any tangle..
Look I know, that's a story I tell myself & is not necessarily true but that's just my two cents worth.
Also I love the feeling of a big strong "fluffy" man.

Just workout and do you. Do you and don’t workout. You should be happy in your own skin and not be judged for it.
It’s sad that some people project their insecurities onto others for something as novel as going to the gym. It’s also sad that people judge or shame others for having “dad bods” or not being “fit”.
Nobody asked what I thought, just shouting into the void I guess. We all like what we like I hope people feel good in their skin and are not judged for it |

In my humble opinion, 'Dadbod' is certainly not the worst you can get; plenty of very sexy dad bod types on Fab and they tend to be the best craic. I think it's more those who have them who refer to them negatively anyway.
Give me 'dadbod' over skinny or (worse again) 'look how muscular I am' body types any day. There's far, far more to sexy than body shape, so relax lads. Mrs |

I would hazard a guess at this being about insecurities for the most part, unfortunately...if you're not happy with your own body when you're not "gym fit", spending time with someone who looks like they are, can bring those insecurities out.
I know I've gained a few pounds over the last 6 months and though I'm still content enough where I'm at, I know I can look better (my personal opinion and not looking for validation here)...so the occasional doubt creeps in, particularly when looking at all these fabulous nudes of other ladies and you start the toxic act of comparing yourself etc...
Personally, with regards to the OP, physique isn't the be all and end all. Attraction and chemistry is so much more than just the physical. You can be a gym fit/athletic @hole exuding notions of superiority which immediately makes someone unattractive. Give me a cuddly bear or Dad bod with empathy, humour and a zest for life over bad attitude in an Adonis anyday |

For me it's about the guy I'm either attracted to him as a person or not.
A guy with an athletic or gym fit body I'm going to think straight off why would he be interested in me? As I would tend to think he out of my league but I'm working on that.
I know extremely for guys and cannot hold more than a 2 min conversation , as for the lady she was fobbing you off.

Just cos a guy has a fit body it doesnt mean hes a gym bunny. I'm I'm pretty good shape I think but havent seen inside a gym in over ten years. Not all fit guys need validation for the work they have put in. Some have no work put in |

Dad bod = emotionally intelligent, great sense of humour and full of the joys of life.
Athletic/ Muscular = every one of them are miserable self absorbed wankers who love themselves
It's completely rational that you can deduce someone's personality from their appearance.

Great reply, it's all to do with the mind , if people are on the same wavelength great , if not , that's just the way it is , a guy can be with a beautiful woman but she could be all about herself then it's a no go but a woman could be brilliant to be with , great craic , no seriousness , wants to be with you then it's good to go . |

I don't like sweeping generalisations but you can't deny it's true for many and something to be wary of as a potential red flag.
Also, the effects of steroids that lots but not all use.
Also, how the demands and commitment of achieving and maintaining that gym body impact on their lifestyle choices which then affects others in their life.
I have experience of living with someone who, whilst they never achieved a gym body due to their genetics, they were obsessed with it.
Same as I'd be wary of anyone who takes little care of their health. Red flags are everywhere, ignore them at your own risk |

Endomorphs
From the web:
Endomorphs have softer bodies with curves. They have a wide waist and hips and large bones, though they may or may not be overweight. Their weight is often in their hips, thighs, and lower abdomen. |

Same for us ^^
We're a bit put off by lads who share nothing but gym photos and seem to be obsessed with their abs. They might not care as much about others' physiques (or claim as such) but it just causes unnecessary discomfort.
Nothing wrong with being proud of your body and the work you put in at the gym but if that's your USP, then we prob won't get on. |

I like kind eyes and hands that are strong. I've no preference over muscles or softness. I've no issues with someone who trains hard, once it isn't obsessive. Likewise I've no issues with someone who's never set foot in a gym.
I like a body that's capable of sitting and chatting over a drink or a cuppa. One that makes me feel comfortable. And if the person attached to the body makes me wet with excitement and can nail me all night long then all the better. |
