Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen and to think or hint that only men give abuse is naive at the best.
Yes women tend to get more abuse off random guys. You learn to get a thick skin tighten your filters (which I found anyhow makes a massive difference) and use the block button. But there are women who can give just as much abuse on here and it's not always aimed at men, it's quite often aimed it at other women they don't like or see as competition. Especially when it comes to some groups who like to gang up on others on here and try and bully them off fab. So the whole all women are whiter than white and it's the men who are the abusive ones is quite far off the mark.

Only ever got one abusive message and it wasn’t even that abusive … new couples account no pics/veris only open 2 weeks or so . They messaged saying hey guys accept our friend request … we said no you’re not verified and new with no pics etc .. they came back with “ fine you can stay fu*king the aul ones on here so “ lmao  |

I get a tonne of abusive messages. The scariest one I ever got was on an old profile, I had a town I lived near but wasn’t from listed. This guy got it into his head I was his ex, abused me from a height, asked if everyone would feel sorry for me still if they knew what a whore I was. And then threatened me/this girls safety. He also threatened to hurt himself. I genuinely hope he never did anything to that girl he mistook me for. I’d be called all sorts of names (mostly prostit—ute) usually when I don’t respond to messages. Fab is wild |

Funny also that I put up a photo recently and a guy I know over a year messaged me today to tell me a woman on fab messaged him and said I was a fake using fake photos and that it was taken from someone’s instagram. He could verify me as being real. She didn’t like that and blocked him. I tried to message her but she has females blocked. So strange. |

I used to get abusive messages fairly regularly but it read back in the days when the site was a lot more uncivilised. I still get the occasional one out two here and there. Its not just one gender that's guilty of it either.
I had a suspicion once about an abusive message I got and the sender referred to something I had mentioned in a message to someone I had interacted with on here and in messages. I did a little test where I told her something made up about me, and told nobody else. A few days later the abusive message came back with obvious knowledge of it. I messaged the lady in question about it and she blocked me instantly. She then started spreading lies and a few people stopped talking to me. She was eventually discovered to be using someone else's pics and got banned. People are strange.
Whenever I get one now I'll usually try and interact with the person and wind them up until they eventually end up blocking me themselves. It's great fun. |

I've had a few entitled messages with the old "do you not know who I am?" line but can only think of one nasty message.
That was around the same time I decided I didn't want to be part of all the daily drama associated with certain fabbers and stopped chatting to them.
The silence was deafening. Literally the hundreds of messages every week detailing what others were doing, who was meeting who, where they worked, who they knew, what they looked like just stopped and for a while I thought that would be that.
Despite telling them for months that I had no interest in anything they were telling me and didn't care, they were obsessed.
Every criticism on the forums was aimed at them even though they weren't in some of the threads. Every compliment in the forums was received gracefully despite it obviously being for someone else and the forums went from being a horrible place full of gobshites to a happy place.
When I decided to stop enabling them and ignore it all I started to get snippets of private conversations I'd had repeated to me by others and even one or two productive male fabbers repeating things I had said in private on threads in the forums as a little nod and a wink that they had the inside scoop.
Like Mick there may have been a little misinformation spread as a test and this was repeated back to me by others at a social which was hilarious.
The funny thing is that all the "gobshites" who were so nasty and hideous and out to get them are all recently verified by them.
They often have statuses or make comments here in support of some of the other women who's details they have been sharing which is why I put no value in statuses.

It's like the flip side of not watching soaps but people around you are discussing the characters and plotlines as if they are real.

Well I'm definitely not competition for the women here so im safe enough from abuse from them but i have had men that I've had absolutely no dealings with message to tell me how fat i am. One told me this is fab swingers not fat swingers and another messaged to call me porkie. It says more about them then it does me imo. |
