"If you're a registered electrician and you're free for a ton of residential work in West Cork, hit us up
We have so much work needed and getting a bit desperate here.. not entirely discounting the idea of finding tradespeople through Fab "
Yep
Unfortunately us tradesmen are a rare breed these days |

Most Electrician's have to provide a registered cert now with any work done , that's the way things are now , the day of getting someone in to do a bit of electrical work with our a cert now is long gone. |

Sparks are hard to find these days as there is tins of work out there number 1 but it's so hard to become certified insured etc that it's better off nit bothering with nixers. your best hope is to ask the local business's in your area who they use. try get them to put in a recommendation with the spark and you could get lucky. it honestly sounds like a male blank silouette profile with no veris trying to get a meet on here |

Yeah we're learning things are pretty word of mouth round here.. not sure why we'd need to prove ourselves worthy of an electrician's time but it is what it is |

tradesmen fear being burnt financially I guess. they are going in to a house that someone else wired. it's easier stick to new work and there's loads of that about now |

If only it were so easy! Searching for tradesmen online has been our go to from the start... But it's often pointless as people don't seem to use the internet for these types of things round here apart from maybe Facebook.. websites are often outdated and full of false information, some have a smattering of reviews (most don't), contact forms are meaningless as no one answers email..
All of the work we've been able to secure thus far has been through word of mouth and simply going down a list of phone numbers.. feels like we're back in the 20th C sometimes |

I don't know if you've seen my recent thread about electrician. From my experience it's really hard to get any tradesmen, not to mention a good one who's willing to do a small residential job because there's loads of work out there at present. Some seem even to exploit now and quote you enormous prices.
Anyhow the best way to go about and to find one is like pleasureville suggested word of mouth/recommendations.
The best lads I had coming to my shack we're all recommended either by a friend or by one of themselves ie found a really good plumber through the lad who services the oil burner. You could also go to your local hardware shop and ask the guys behind the till if they could recommend someone, they do know them all. Or just stop at a building site and speak to the workers on site.
It is especially tough ay present but not impossible. Good luck with your quest. |

I know exactly how you feel... as blow-ins and rural dwellers ourselves everyone just seems to have a guys number that they always use. The tradespeople are busy and just aren't interested in people they don't know, or who's family they don't know, and when you DO get someone to come and look I always get the feeling I'm getting shafted. The best way we have found is talking to neighbours and getting contacts and telling them who recommended them, and even then it's not always successful. |

I've found a few tradesmen through word of mouth and they've never let me down and have a family member who is an electrician which is great in emergencies but I still have to book him weeks or months in advance for non essential work.
I don't want to knock all tradesmen and businesses because it's only a few that stick the arm in.
I took a company vehicle in for new tyres last week and the guy told me there were still 1000 miles on the existing ones and he wouldn't take my money just yet.
That's the sort of business I would recommend and go back to.

"Oh we'll need some carpentry work for sure at some point.. we're not trading sex for work here lol.. just desperate to close up our walls "
Apologies by the way guys, I'd ment the carpentery comment in jest, wasn't suggesting anything in the way of trading sex. I'd gotten a couple of comments from some I might have offended. Wasn't my intention. So good luck with your search, and happy fabbing as they say |
