"Did it for 4 years and have considered going back on shift but just don't think the money worth if "
As in, it's not paid enough relative to the cost of living or its not enough to compensate for the lifestyle? |

The recent pandemic's main aftermath is that many people are no longer prepared to work long and unsocial hours for poor pay, that does not guarantee a minimum standard of life.
This is why there is a staffing crisis in many businesses, that will endure.
A similar phenomenon was seen after the Black Death in England in the 1300s.
Labourers became scarcer, wages rose and legislation was enacted to reduce their bargaining power. |

That definitely is the case at the moment. In my industry there's a huge shortage of staff. I've left one company to go back to my previous job because what they were offering me is unheard of so I jumped at at. |

Went back to the company I was with previously. Better role and renumeration with a contracted management position guaranteed in writing in the next 6 months. I pick my own hours. My own team and from next month I'm getting travel allowance. I originally left them because the money was way better where I was going to. But now I'm doing less hours, have more time to myself and I'm bringing home just as much. Less stress and more energy now too. |

Have been working unsociable hours for 23yrs and in one of the lowest paid industries and will continue to do so until I retire as I love the job that I do and know that I make a small difference to people's lives and toe that's just as important as money |

The money is OK but the commuting, the different shifts and lack of sleep took its toll on my body and mental health. Working weekends and missing out on nights out etc |

Mine can be unsociable hours and yes its frustrating to be invited to a social or party but cant go cos of work, but at the same time I love my job and have never felt like it's a chore to get up in the morning to go to.
Previous job near broke me and it was a 9-5 one with amazing salary and benefits but in the end just not worth the stress. |

Over 20 years now on constantly rotating days and nights. I’m so tired of it and have huge regrets in terms of what the cost to my family has been. I’m in too far to back out now, gotta hang on for the pension. |

Have done on call rosters in hospitals for 20 odd years now. I have managed to get off the rota and feel so much better for it. It was just hell, the constant fatigue was really bad. Would never be able to do it again and fingers crossed I won't have too |
