Modern Men vs Modern women

Safe to say modern men take a lot more care of themselves these days ie. More into their fashion, hair, looks, fancy hair cuts going to the gym etc but apart from that their are few if any “artificial” enchantments men wear or get done cosmetically in the main steam.
As for women….. hair extensions, hair dye, false lashes, lash dye, those mad I brow things, Botox, lip filler, make that’s now looks to be professionally applied, breast enhancement, bust enhancing bras, booty fillers, yoga enhancing pants, why do women put themselves to through some much, I’d it for the men or other women?
I’d hate to be a young lad in my 20’s now…. What you go home with after a night out could look the complete opposite the next day when all the packing has been removed. |

Can't say himself is a "modern" man in that context so...and I do none of that to "enhance" myself. I'm shaved and showered, I may apply some eyeliner and mascara on a day/night out with a pretty but comfortable outfit.
It is mind boggling though - there's so much natural beauty covered up and hidden underneath all this plastic sh*te...   |

Absolutely!! call me old fashioned but naturally beautiful women with little or no make up does it for me.
It’s youngsters in their 20’s and maybe some in their early 30’s who are covered in head to toe in all the plastic sh!te. What’s the point ? It’s not their true selfs. |

Don't wear make up - prepare everyone to keep asking if you're sick or hangover.
Wear make up - prepare to listen to lectures about how fake and plastic and shitty you are. Poor guy who goes out with you won't recognize you.

Many just slapping on stuff because of societal norms or because their "expected" to in their own minds.
When things like makeup and tan are done poorly it's terrible looking and a more natural look is actually more attractive, and for the life of me I can't understand lip fillers!

If fellas think ive naturally multichrome eyelids and the like then thats on them. I like my makeup i like to experiment. Luckily himself has seen me without and knows he will up to an extra out of the walking dead every morning |

Of course it's your place to say, you are entled to your opinion. I agree with both of you on those awful fillers but I think they are going out of fashion fortunately.
But now we have these 'sculpting and toning' treatments which are a total farce. |

Anything I do with regards to my appearance is for me and to please myself. The opinion of others is irrelevant. I imagine a lot of women are of the same opinion. |

In the 1800s fake eyelashes were invented by a prostitute to stop semen getting into their eyes. They were called cumbrellas. So ladies next time you go to beauticians ask for a fresh set of Cumbrellas

I have been in the company of some women "made up" to the last... a man has walked by with hair dye and the laughing starts.... personally, I dunno why men use dye, or do I understand why some women spend hours getting ready, only to have one drink and disintegrate before my very eyes.... women are beautiful without doing that shit... false advertising |

Oh jesus, these "Modern" Threads!
OP the description you gave of men has been forced technically, not that its a inherent choice... its a result of greater rights for women, equality and feminism.. if you look at it clearly, what your seeing is men starting to now do what women have for centuries... which is focus on their appearance due to the pressures of society and the opposite sex! Why? Well because things such as arranged marriages, wielding finacial power and control (needed for survival) and the ability to R*pe/sexually assault all around you and have a beer after without the fear of consequences have significantly dwindled.. but don't fool yourself in thinking they're eradicated by an means!
As such men have had to adapt from their neandertholic ways in order to actually "Attract" a woman rather than take them..
On the other hand, all you say about women and the amount of different things they use for appearance... its called adaption for survival, its happened for centuries and as such has become a societal norm and has had a huge psychological consequence... trust me, if us men depended on our looks for survival for centuries and then due to that found our own sex turning on us because of the competition for such survival... we'd have all sorts of mad things hanging off us!
Again, i know this doesn't really apply to modern times as much, but when something is "systemic" for so long, its unbelievably hard to break and when you look at our women if today, they are becoming more and more liberal in terms of breaking the mold that men created..
Just think, many things that women first used for beauty were created in a time when women were not allowed education or to enter the work force... so who do you think created them, and fir whos gain?
The more you see men focus on their appearance and women less so.. it shows a positive move towards true equality in this sense
But as you point out, many women are still effected by the systemic manipulation they have faced their whole lives and for generations and there are still so many pig ugly Neanderthal men roaming around... so we are not even close.
So there's nothing "Modern" about it.. its just a substantial swing in evolution over a very minute space of time when you think about how long true evolution takes..
Unfortunately, we're nowhere close to seeing where we should be at in our lifetimes..
Fab itself is still pure evidence of that... all the worst messages coming from men, all the hottest pics/aesthetic being of women... theres nothing Modern about us, whatever that actually even means (literally describes a time you live in) if you are alive.. you are a modern man or woman lol
Now if I see one more "Modern" Thread.. whoever posts it wont be in the modern age for much longer! lol |

I believe its less a case of it makes people happy only ... and more that it allows people to feel like they fit in ...
We are and have been a tribal creature for a long time ...
Are we always happy doing what we must to fit in , probably not.
Are we less uncomfortable in the short term ..probably.
Its the societal norm to shun or avoid those who don't fit in ..
Acceptance of all will probably alleviate some of the need to change your appearance too fit in.
That inturn may reduce the surge in mahogany plastic filled war paint youngsters!
So op ... maybe all we need to do is encourage everyone to not fit in  |
