London/Essex... ish... Romford to be exact |
6.2 on IMDb so far. Doesn't bode well. Although this could be skewed by purists with differing expectations. But the fact that I wasn't too impressed with HOTD which fared significantly better with 8.9 is a worry. I am prepared to give both a chance but I will not blindly persist. |

It seemed alright so far, but I can see how purists might take offense in the liberties that Amazon took.
On the other hand, the Silmarillion isn't exactly full of details on the happenings around the forging of the Rings as far as I recall |

Well for a totally out lay of nearly I billion, it would want to be worth watching. After watching the first two episodes, I think this will be one of those burn bright and fast series and if they persist with churning out more series than the story needs. It will fall and fade fast |

They have already announced that season 2 will be shot in the UK rather than New Zealand to reduce costs which doesn't bode well. |

Think is cost nearly 250million just for the rights to make the series. From what i can tell is Amazon have been after the rights for nearly 10years with little competition. It was more of a matter of showing the Tolkien estate what kind of show was going to be produced. Plus 250million in the bank helps. Reported 25million per episode to make. That's some money for an online streaming company to fork out for subscription based platform |

As long as they stay true to the story I'm happy.
I think it mainly based of the appendix from the lord of the rings books. So I know they have to that some liberties as there isn't any real book so to say that explains what happens.
Just a bit worried about it after they fecked up the wheel of time series, big time. |

Apparently Bezos son is a Tolkien nerd and told him he’d never forgive him if he fucked it up so fingers crossed!
So far, so good for me anyway. The visuals are beautiful. |

Ya the last episode has me a bit worried about the whole show to be honest.
Kinda looks like their gonna do a love story with Galadriel and the human she went to numenor with.
And with Isildur appearing so soon.
It looks like they are compressing the timeline of the second age |

My friend and her nan binged the first four episodes and whilst being big fans of the Jackson films, admitted they were bored stiff by this attempt. And they levelled the same criticism which I've come across frequently in that the female character is annoying.
I was going to let the show settle a bit before dipping my toes in but now appears it is getting worse and probably best I swerve it altogether. |
