Feel the same sometimes.. have always chalked it up to our non-attendenance at social events and/or our request for face pics (many people frown heavily on that and we've been known to be accused of being pic hunters).

Same here, I get shy as well (Mrs)! When we didn't know many people, we would chat to people online that we knew were going and make arrangements to meet them there. It made all the difference
