So who has watched the first episode? Any good, have they gone some way on redeeming themselves?

It was very meh. Didn't really add anything to the legend and felt a bit like more of the same.

It's still HBO but David Benioff and Dan Weiss aren't involved.

Not loving Matt Smith as Prince Daemon but otherwise I enjoyed it. I didn’t pick up my phone once during the ep which is a win in itself!

It needs some time to develop, before I decide whether it's worth watching. Agree about Matt Smith though, sounds like a sneery public-school boy in a bad wig.

He just doesn’t look like a Targaryen at all. I’m loving the casting of Princess Rhaenyra though. Obviously costuming and hair etc help but she looks like a young Dany.

Quite enjoyed it. Was nice to see certain things fleshed out on TV that were in the book. Looking forward to seeing what a dickhead Damon can actually be on screen.

Personally, I thought it was just ok. Not chomping at the bit for next week's eposode. Not a fan of the chap that played the prince even in Dr Who, his image and voice is not menacing enough. I thought the acting was average as well as CGI on the dragon. I dont think they gave it the same budget as GOT but maybe I'm a bit biased about it seen as I was in the battle of the bastards

It was great. Just the right amount of f****d up. I saw comments online saying it was too gory. Eh were they asleep for GOT

I'm really enjoying it so far. Cast are excellent - obviously you expect Matt Smith and Paddy Considine to be great but I often forget how good Rhys Ifans can be in a dramatic role, while Milly Alcock is also brilliant. I'm sure Emma D'Arcy will be great when she takes over as the older Rhaenyra, but Milly will be a hard act to follow.
