We still talking eggs here? Maybe put in more water so they don't bang off the bottom as much |

"Without it cracking.
And if so how - what am i doing wrong.
Half the insides spill out of mine and its gross "
Sometimes, sometimes not - pure pot luck.
What I can't possibly do is boil an egg with a runny yolk.
Oh and poach it - never even attempted it either. Just see poached eggs as most pointless invention ever.

"I would boil the water and lower the eggs in with a spoon so they don't bang the bottom. Some still end up cracking but not much leaking. "
Forgot to add this. If you keep your eggs in the fridge take them out about 10-15 minutes before boiling. Lowers the shock from going from so cold to heat which increases the chance to crack. |

Punch a tiny hole in the bottom of the egg where the air sac is. By relieving the pressure on the shell it won't crack as it heats up. You can even buy a wee egg puncher for the job |

It’s simple really. All you have to do is get a cup, put some water in the kettle and boil. Pour boiling water into cup and add tea bag and allow time to diffuse. Then sit back and watch someone else boil the fecking egg. |

I've always smiled at anyone who boils an egg starting with cold water - having to wait until the water boils to start the timer...tedious.
My eggs are never stored in the fridge.
I pierce the bottom of the egg with a sharp knife, or as someone mentioned - there is a gadget to buy you can do that with.
Once water is boiling, I gently place the pierced egg into the pot with a spoon and cover while the water simmers, not in full bubbly boil mode.
Depending on the size of the egg, I generally buy medium, it takes 5 1/2 minutes for the perfectly soft boiled egg, no icky goo left and all intact . Once time's up, "shock" the egg for a few seconds under running cold water (this also makes a hard boiled egg easier to peel).
Place in an egg cup, lop off the top with a knife and eat with a teaspoon straight from the egg or serve, yummy on toast with Miracle Whip |

Place them in a pot add cold water till they are covered
Bring to the boil ...turn down your gas till they are boiling away but less vigorously...set your watch for 3 minutes 20 seconds etc..depending how you like them...no eggs are as nice as ones straight off the hens themselves
