Seems to be becoming more and more common or maybe it's because I've been looking down the gastric surgery route that I'm seeing it... But what's your opinion? Would u have a nip and tuck? Would the risks involved shape your decision? |

No, have had enough non-elective surgery, no way would I undergo surgery for solely cosmetic reasons (barring accident/disfigurement perhaps) not worth the risk/downtime |

Lucky in that I've never had surgery of any kind and never felt the need for cosmetic surgery but I'm fully aware of the effect it can have on self esteem.
One of my daughters is having reconstructive surgery this week that she has waited 7 years on and the waiting time alone has been very difficult for her. |

Can’t say I haven’t thought about it but like some of the replies the risk of something going wrong is too much of a risk too take for me I know people personally who have got work done but no it’s just not for me |

Personally, I would not put myself through surgery voluntarily, unless a good consultant would seriously advise it.
But there are people I've met in this lifestyle that feel or felt the need to take this decision to improve their physical appearance.
Some have made the move and had good results, others have not gone ahead with the surgery and are perfectly fine the way they are.
Sometimes the psychological pressure (mostly peer pressure) is the main factor, pushing them. |

Currently waiting on two consultation appointments with two different plastic surgeons. As long as you do your research, are happy with the surgeon and their reviews and don’t put yourself in debt for it, then I find it hard to see why not! You have one life to live, if surgery will help you be happier in your skin then go for it. You’ll find enough nay sayers where ever you ask, only you have to live with the consequences so it’s only your opinion that matters in the subject |

I've had cosmetic surgery and have more scheduled for next year. After two kids and breastfeeding I was left with a significant breast size difference and diastis recti. My confidence was so poor I could barely look in the mirror without crying. So I chose to have it done and for the downtime, the minor infections I had after and the compression I had to live, I would do it again. My confidence is better than it was,I'm happier and healthier as I work hard to maintain. If it makes someone feel better just go for it |

It's far too risky imo and definitely don't go the Turkey route the amount of people who have died from botched gastric bypass, nip and tuck even dental procedures is serious, at the risk of sounding like a dick but merely eating less food controlling portion sizes is a far better option |

No, not unless I was badly disfigured. Everything else is in my control, except hair and I don't care enough about that either.
I'd rather spend the money on councilling or similar to improve my mental.health as I think k it would provide much more long term value. Most plastic surgery has a short self-life too and you can rarely defeat natural aging. |

Sorry to hear that you've needed non-elective surgery. Though I'm lucky not to have been in that boat, I share this opinion... |

As a recent drastic (33kg) weight loss success story, I think that the health benefits of losing a large amount of weight MASSIVELY outweighs the risks of surgery.
When you are overweight, you are not only dealing with the side effects of being overweight, you’re also highly likely to be dealing with a huge reduction in the standard of your health care. When I was 4/5 dress sizes larger than I am now, literally EVERYTHING was blamed on my weight.
TRUE STORY - For me it was:
Sore back? You’re fat, lose weight.
Blurred vision? You’re fat, lose weight.
Palpitations and dizziness? You’re fat, lose weight.
Oh oops you actually have sepsis. WHOOOPS sorry we missed that.
I didn’t lose the weight through surgery, but I’d have considered it. Happily.

I have had 3 friends who had gastric surgery 2 of them went to Turkey and one ha it in Ireland. All 3 had problems. But the pair that went to Turkey had very serious complications, and one is on dialysis now because of the infection that they developed.
So every operation has risks and probability the less you pay the risks increase.
Do your research and speak to people that actually have the experience. |

The biggest surgery and only ive been through is getting 2 wisdom teeth out. Sounds small, but it tooks 6 months to get over due to infections which was exhausting. The surgery had to be done because of the pain, but i didnt anticipate how traumatic it would be for my body to recover from. You need to factor that in to any decision you make. Xxxx |

Wow, your body transformation is quite an achievement, well done! Certainly the better way to go than bariatric surgery imo. |

You must be so proud of your achievement...well done!
I have had 2 cesarean ops and would never go under the knife again as recovery was long.
But I can appreciate why some would want to. |

I have a gastric band...and it's by no means an easy quick fix. Its a tool. Sometimes regret having it as it can be a pain in the arse when i really want to enjoy a meal out. But on the other hand I would probably still be over 20st if I didn't have it! |
