I went for meanings for the 5 I have, it’s all for me and not for looks. I don’t think I’d ever get one for the look of it. That said there is some amazing art work on folk and hats off to them for sitting/lying through it. |

"I’d love to get one or 2. Have nothing totally specific in mind. From people who have them, do ye need to have meaning behind one to get it?"
No not necessarily, just make sure you are 100% sure of what you want, where you want it and research the tattoo artist before you go |

The first few usually have some sort of meaning. After that, it's just because you like them
Spend some time looking through galleries of work by artists you'd like to go to. You're looking for smooth, steady line work that doesn't wobble. Be prepared to wait a bit to get a booking. And don't go for the cheapest |

I've seen some amazing tattoos on here on men and women
Some of the tattoo's with the tribal/celtic design and writing on some men looks fantastic but I think you have to have a certain body shape to suit it.
I have one tattoo on my back....its my favorite animal and probably not suited to most other people
Get what ever you want and dont worry about anyone else |

Best advice you'll get is from a tattoo artist. You may have that eureka moment |

The idea of a permanent ink tattoo has never appealed to me because intrinsically it denotes permanence; myself and my former were never married. We didn't like the idea of permanence.
We had a successful open relationship for many years and, over the years, had flings with other couples, for a while.
I have always fancied having a henna tattoo that would be gone within a month, and then get a new fresh one. |

Very common these days and the whole ‘meaningful’ thing, like really? Tacky bullshit. But I suppose when you have tattoos you have to come to a site like this because you can take your clothes off and show them to people. |

"

A lot of people I know have got tattoos about things in their life that they thought was important. Years down the line they realise it wasn’t really that important. Life changes, attitudes change but those tatts don’t and they just keep getting more and more blurred and faded. But each to their own I suppose. |

Maybe some people's tattoos become irrelevant later in life but not everyone's, I know for me my first was one my son.drew and its meaning to me will never change. |

Have to disagree. I’ve just started a sleeve in the last few months, each part of the sleeve represents a different memory. No names, just places. Everyone has a different opinion on tattoos the same way everyone has a right to voice their opinion on them. Some think they are tacky, some think they are out of this world |

I got my first in memory of my mum when I was 50. Nothing tacky about it and it's not for public display either. |

I have 27,most have meaning, most I designed myself, some I have even tattooed on myself, my advice is find some art that you love enough to have on your body, research your artist before you take the final step. |

The two (tattoo and spouse) have similarities, they're supposed to be for life and it's hard and painful to get rid of them. |

I'm heavily tattooed . Some are meaningful some are literally random squiggles that I wanted. And I take great pleasure in showing them off because frankly they make me feel beautiful didn't get them for anyone else or anyone else's opinions . I say if you want a tattoo go for it . |

Oh God, so fecking true DH.
I wouldn't get one myself (tatoo or wife), but I like some tattoos on some people.
An embarrassing moment for me, was when I've asked a lovely petite kinky woman (no longer on Fab, since a couple of weeks ago) what was her tattoo supposed to mean ...a butterfly she replied, to my surprise....it was a faded and really badly distorted tatoo of a butterfly, on her lower back ... I should have kept my mouth shut! |

I have 1 small tattoo which I chose for a loved one as a reminder so it is very significant to me. It symbolises freedom and strength but also used as a reminder to some that while change is messy, it makes us stronger and more beautiful |

One tattoo it symbolises my struggles in life that have and the scares it left behind. I can keep it covered, but I don't regret it and yes it is permanent just like the after effects of my struggle but it also shows I have come along way |
