Springboardcourses

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I posted this here last year and I got few private messages saying they had gone back to education because of seeing it discussed on forum's. So thought I would post again as there's still time to apply

Springboard+ is a Government initiative offering free and heavily subsidised courses at certificate, degree, and masters level leading to qualifications in areas where there are employment opportunities in the economy. These areas include ICT, business, marketing, tourism, engineering, green skills, manufacturing and construction, among many others.

There are over 300 courses available for 2022-23, the majority of which are flexible and part-time and are mixture of online blended or classroom based

It's fully funded for unemployed people and employed people pay 10%

So for example if you are employed you would pay €450 euro towards a €4500 degree course and if you are in receipt of a social welfare payment its free

It's aimed at giving people the chance to unskill or retrain when they might not be able to afford it

https://springboardcourses.ie/

For me personally it gave me a chance to finish a Business degree I started back in the 90s that I couldn't afford to finish. I never actually got to attend the college as it was all online over zoom I even sat the exams online. Check with each course how they give lectures a lot are online now but with Covid restrictions lifted some are now going back to been classroom based. I think it's a wonderful resource and I've already applied for the next course to further my education. Its never too late to go back to school!

There's also shorter courses available here to upskill for payroll computing etc.

Further Education and Training or FET, offers a wide variety of life-long education options to anyone over 16. FET includes apprenticeships, traineeships, Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses, community and adult education as well as core literacy and numeracy services. FET courses and programmes are provided through the Education and Training Board network throughout the country as well as through other local providers including online through SOLAS’ eCollege. FET courses are provided at levels one to six on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

I hope you're properly proud of yourself. That's some achievement going back and finishing off your degree. Very few who don't finish first time around ever revisit it. Also great information and links!

I'm not ashamed to admit I actually cried when I got my results and got a distinction. So I would absolutely encourage anyone who is thinking about doing it to go for it.

https://springboardcourses.ie/details/10454 there's a Batchelor of Business in Supply Chain in Cork. It's a blended course so I would presume most is online. So maybe give them a call to find out

Your never too old to return to education...last year was one of my hardest I've ever had. Lost a family member, took on another job to pay the bills and just to make my life harder took on what they said was a part time course( my arse it was ) but have come out at the other end with a qualification that will open more doors for me. Definitely worth the sleepless nights.

Thanks for posting this thread and well done on achieving your own goals.

Doing a new course might be a good option for me.. and a welcome distraction from perving on fab.

However I was indeed properly distracted until you mentioned your "bachelor in blowjobs"

Drogheda

I completed a level 7 cert through springboard this year and following through with a level 8 HDip in the same field in a different institution.

Total cost to me for the two will be 650, not even a quarter of the student contribution fee might have been for one year had I gone back to a classroom setting. Both online, though upcoming one has some Saturday in-person days, which means at least this time I'll get to visit the campus of the institution I'm attending!

And next year I might even look at a masters!

It's an amazing opportunity to upskill or reskill, or even just for fun.

Fairplay Rosy for posting this & well done on your accomplishments, I've thankfully been able to utilise a few of those courses through work & they've made a huge difference for me. I encourage everyone to check them out.

I do but I heard the blow jobs one was an honorary docterate and the hand jobs one you had to really put the work in for

Fair play to you as well for going back as well it's especially hard to juggle work and college. There's a really good range of courses so I would encourage everyone to check out the website. The support from my lecturers and fellow classmates was just unreal plus my Fab friends encouraged me thanks to them all . So I would say to people considering returning to education don't doubt yourself you can do it and you'll be so delighted you did do it

I am interested to know where you done your "job" placements

On Fetch, have a look at "skills to advance" on some of the courses.

Where traditionally Solas / Fás / or (ANCO for those of a vintage) were free for those seeking jobs. Skills to advance are designed to be free to those in employment seeking promotions.

Along with working, last year completed two independent college courses, level 7 and a level 6, both with a GPA above 80, I should have done it years ago. Great confidence booster.

Heading into final Yr of honours degree now

The sticks

Used Springboard for a grad cert in DCU a few years back......was all online and that was pre Covid so suited me great while living in the west.

Always good to keep the mind ticking over by doing a course every few yrs
