Where is the swing graveyard of Ireland?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hey folks just a quick one here but in your opinion where is the Irish swing graveyard? I understand that there will be more than one location but having been on the site for the past year ( anniversary next month lol ) and living here in Galway and to be fair the west of Ireland in general seems to be dead if I'm conpelety honest but with Galway being such a big city & county you would think that there would be a little bit more going on so it begs the question again in your experience where have you thought that there might have been a bigger or more active scene and turned out there hasn't?
Again i understand that parties and social events gravitate towards Cork, Dublin & Limerick for example and i know it's a very small irish community but just as a little bit of lighthearted fun this evening ' Where is the Irish swing graveyard? ' |

A good question. Leitrim and Roscommon, are graveyards . Put either into the search here, and often you'll get zero results.
Galway has a lot going on, everybody is drinking and filling the pubs, but a sparse swinging scene as its a small town and everybody went to school together. Having said that, I've been to a very well attended social in galway, and the city hosts a monthly munch for fetish afficionados. |

"Pre-Covid I would have said Limerick, but there were 3 large events in the vicinity last weekend, 'tis a feast or a famine here
So i'll go with Kerry ... almost zero going on there "

If i could give you advise it was too far away from when you decided on the date....one week if you know you're free should be fine |

Outside the larger cities and principal towns, both north and south, for reasons that are well understood (anonymity in urban areas, blow-ins from rural areas who want to sew their oats, more recent cross-cultural influences, etc) swinging is bound to be a rarity in rural areas of this island.
There is a solution: make contact with people within a reasonable travelling distance and discreetly do your own; and spice up your arrangement with occasional visits to clubs. |

The swinging scene in England in particular is very different than here in Ireland, principally because of the number of clubs, most of which are well managed.
The total population is at least fifteen times greater and largely living in towns and conurbations.
In north America and in continental Europe, especially in Holland and Germany swinging is more developed and accepted.
They have largely thrown off the shackles of organised religious faiths, which has only relatively recently occurred here.
Dublin in particular is a very different place than it was when I was living there in the early 90s. |

The fab graveyard? It's in an isolated spot in the Cratloe Woods, let me know when you're free and I'll show you. |
