Just a quick question ?
Has Fab always been like this?
Has Swinging in Ireland always been like this ??
I’m relatively new to the whole scene!
The process
Someone msgs on here then take it to another site which is equally as poor .
No actual conversing unless numbers are exchanged?
No group chat where all the genuine people sit and for example someone says oh I’m in Kildare who’s up for a coffee or anal ? No such place ?
How long has it been this way ?
I’m just curious is there a whole world of swinging in Ireland that I know nothing about because “fab swingers” is the only way in Ireland ?
I’d just like to point out I’m not slagging anyone here not fab or anyone else I’m sure as a business it runs extremely well . You don’t have any competition and the demand is huge.
I look at the uk and it’s bouncing or is it just because we are so backwards.
But I’m just curious as I said I’m relatively new and I’ve met some amazing people.

There is a chatroom so far as I know, never seen the need to use it ourselves "

The real swinging and meeting up takes place in privacy, off the forum, maybe at clubs. Only a small but vocal percentage use the forum. There is a thriving scene in ireland, but its very private. |

It's all there imo. There's the forum, the chat room and kik groups. Then there's smaller and bigger socials/m&g and then there's parties and few clubs.
If you haven't been yet at a social and wish to dive a bit more into the scene that might be the most obvious way to go. |

I’ve been to a couple and started running my own.
I can only speak for my experience
I was stood up 4 men 4 times in a row I don’t have time to be grafting men for 4 weeks at a time for them not to show up. If it’s happened me 4 times it must be happening others. I also think almost instantaneously by speaking to someone U will know if u wanna meet them. Also by seeing them in a group situation also gives a better take on people.
IMO the clubs that are in existence are fine if ur established on the scene. If ur new it’s a whole different ball game and if your a man forget about it . However some of the unverified guys I’ve met are absolutely amazing .
Again I’m not slagging anyone I’m just curious to find out is this it . |

I ve never been to a club but even on a normal night out I struggle to chat guys so I prefer the social element, as you said its easier to gauge people and an interest on a group situation. I don't understand why people struggle to just embrace the social side and enjoy that and whatever else happens. I have a group of fab friends that I've gone bowling with, had lunch with etc and its a laugh |

What's missing is a proper platform in general. Fab is great and all but the first time I opened this page I closed it immediately, it looked so bloody dodgy.
A modern interactive app is required, better profiles, way more search filters, better messaging, interactive group chats so people don't have to use other apps etc. etc.
Fab does seem to be just stumbling along, it badly needs a shot in the arm.
...and yes, there is a large swing scene in Ireland, its just very private. It does appear to be a lot more open in the UK, but also appears a bit tacky aswell. |

Some have zero interest in the social scene and are only here for one off meets while others prefer repeat one to one meets and are prepared to put the effort in to form connections.
I don't agree that you can know instantaneously that someone is worth meeting because too many profiles are very shallow while others are multilayers of drama.
I've been here 5 years and never had a no show or been one but that's because I don't meet people on a whim.

This is what I think really is needed. I'm super thankful for Fab, but it's very old school internet. I'm on FetLife too and it's such an easier platform to chat and meet people. This site hasn't changed or evolved in a long while, so I think it ends up feeling clunky. |

I suppose it can be very difficult to separate the seed( no pun intended)from the chaff and when us married's are thrown into the pot it can all get a tad confusing. Socials seem the best way to meet and decide on further encounters. |

I can't attest to anyone else's first hand experience but for me I think it bogs down to how it's a small world and in that regard Ireland is much like a petri dish.
Not much can be done to overcome that downside so I think people are prone to limiting their overall options in favor of arranged socials where everyone is in the same boat and discretion is expected/more commonly practiced.
In comparison the UK community is much more active - between the clubs and the wider scene there's plenty of fish in the sea so to speak. But, as other Irish fabbers have pointed out on the forums in the past, there are plenty of UK profiles with public face pics up whereas they're very rarely featured here.
This to me is a pretty key distinction as in my experience most conversations that have lead to exchanging face pics don't tend to be the ones that are somewhat local/nearby. Instead they tend to be ones where there's at least a bit of distance between us, so there's less risk of interacting with someone who happens to be 1 degree of separation away from your personal life.
Just my experience though, I'm sure others have experienced the polar opposite in their time here! |

Fab and the Irish swinging scene are certainly more publicly reserved than the UK scene but there’s plenty happening weekly, between parties, socials etc.
The chatrooms used to a lot more active than they were and I wish fab would put some effort into upgrading the chatrooms to make them more user friendly. I used to have the best craic chatting in there. The chat platform on another Irish site is far better and 10 years ago you would have had 150ish people in the main chat every night at the weekend.
Regarding no shows, it’s unfortunately just the nature of fab. It’s a free site which means you get a lot of fantasists joining who love the idea of meeting for casual sex but will never actually go through with it. My best advice to out the fantasists is to either chat for a good while and not all about sex (they’ll get bored if they have no intention of meeting) or to ask for a quick social soon after getting chatting (if they wuss out, you haven’t wasted much time).
I’m actually relieved that there’s no voice notes on kik. If there’s voicenotes scattered throughout a conversation, you have to be in a position to be able to listen to them to be able to keep up with the conversation. That’s not possible in work, around family etc. Text suits me far better. No chat platform is perfect, just use whatever one suits you best.
I think sometimes people think that the forums are the centre of fab. They’re really just a very small fraction of members who love a bit of controversy every now and then |

Fab is what you make of it. I use to use the chat rooms with camera on many moons ago. The laugh was great and made some good friends who still in contact to this day. I hate group chats, but been to few socials and had great time.
Yes Ireland is small world and have met people I know to see and it none of my business what they do but if they make my business known it will be their undoing.

Insight into what?
Is the swinging world different to how it used to be? Of course it is, before anonymous chatting apps, more people used the chatrooms as they didn’t want to give out their numbers. Apps like kik, telegram etc have made it easier to chat with “likeminded” people in groups or individually so they have all but replaced the chatrooms, especially one that lives in the dark ages.
I also think covid has changed things a bit. People, in general, stick more to their groups/cliques so they’re wasting less of their precious free time. |

Short answer is yes.
But everyone's approach is different I will say one thing kik has had a negative influence on swinging sites. There's also the "tinder Netflix" generation that expect everything to happen within minutes of making contact. Yes there's always been the wanna fuck ones but there was a time when you'd put a bit of effort into talking to people and meeting. Maybe I'm looking back with Rose tinted glasses but there used to be a community in general on here and others sites too. That's not to say I'm not part of a group of friends on here I mean the site in general |

I don't know can't comment really as i wasn't here in the old days I couldn't even watch channel 18 because when i was younger; I believed thought it was all wrong oh the innocent days. Actually what is the history behind swing it would be really interesting anyone? |

Covid hasn’t helped, there was a huge surge in members during first lockdowns. A lot of nosy ones who weren’t really looking to join the “swinging community “ . A lot of ones who just join for the pics and videos.

Just looked up alittle bit it claims to have started in America in the 1950s when Air force officers swapped wives, you naughty officers but I love it xx. Apparently the divorce rate is Lower in swinging couples. |

I remember the first time I joined fab there would be a lot of people in the Ireland chat, maybe 50+?
I thought it was because I turned from a night owl into a early bird that I'm just not in sync with the active hours anymore. |

The process
Someone msgs on here then take it to another site which is equally as poor .
No actual conversing unless numbers are exchanged?
No group chat where all the genuine people sit and for example someone says oh I’m in Kildare who’s up for a coffee or anal ? No such place ?
How long has it been this way ?
I’m just curious is there a whole world of swinging in Ireland that I know nothing about because “fab swingers” is the only way in Ireland ?
I’d just like to point out I’m not slagging anyone here not fab or anyone else I’m sure as a business it runs extremely well . You don’t have any competition and the demand is huge.
I look at the uk and it’s bouncing or is it just because we are so backwards.
But I’m just curious as I said I’m relatively new and I’ve met some amazing people.

I attended the Midlands social last Sunday and I went there to meet new people and enjoy their company. It was my first group chat and really loved it. I am gonna go again this Sunday. I don't know if anything will ever happen between myself and somebody I meet at a get together. I am happy to allow time reveal that. |

But isn't that the best part we all want different things, I went last Sunday to meet some fabbers I already know and a few new fabbers joined us and it was a great afternoon of laughter and chats. I know nothing will happen swinging wise with anyone there for me and that's OK, but there's another one this Sunday and what else I be at sitting at home alone.
Everyone's journey on here is different and for some the social side etc does nothing for them and that's OK but there's also a lot of people who like it. |
