You will only get the vaccine if you are in healthcare or a confirmed close contact as there isn’t many vaccines around.

And you can get it by close contact not just sexual contact. They are actually not quite sure of the details yet.

If the public health advice says that I need it.. then yes. If not then no.

There was an outbreak within the gay/bi community and unfortunately it spread.

It’s hugely stigmatising that they make it sound like you can only get it if you’re a man having sex with a man.

It can be spread by any skin contact with an infected person.

Isn't it a bit late if you're a close contact?

Apparently not. They say if you have no symptoms yet (incubation is up to 10 days) it can stop them from appearing or you only get mild ones.

I wonder how fast it will rollout for anyone interested to get vaccinated in Ireland?

I would rather get vaccinated and have some protection.

I have heard rumours that the Monkeypox Vaccine causes some male recipients to develop a curvature of their prehensile tail!

Some USA states have declared a public health emergency.

California, Illinois, and New York.

18,000 cases have been detected worldwide in 78 countries.

Experts fear the virus has been circulating undetected in the human population for several month.

California and Illinois have more than 6,000 monkey pox patients.

The USA has already rolled out a vaccine, but doses are limited.

In San Fran Cisco, the queues are over 3 hours long for the vaccine.

People love a good vaccine, anything to get an injection. (for many there is no such thing as bad penetration)

Tbh,everybody is at potential risk of getting it. Not just gay/bi mean. It's also airborne. Problem with this country (and most others) is that once smallpox was eradicated, nobody bothered with vaccines again. The whole monkeypox thing is unusual in that there are generally 2,500-3,000 cases yearly, vast majority in Africa, but now, they have seen 18,000 cases worldwide since May!

Wooohoo, vaccine threads are back. I almost missed them, got to love the controversy and hypocrisy they cause. Let's panic again and bring back the blame game...

I've had both doses of the vaccine at the recommended times. My local clinic has been great about it actually.

They were slow to adopt the HPV vaccine - I think they only started offering it 18-24 months after other places. I had to travel an hour each way to Newcastle for each of the three doses back in 2017 or was it 2018?!

I know there has been major issues with getting Smallpox vaccines for the Monkeypox problem, but my clinic seems to have managed to get ahead of the problem for a change.

I generally tolerate vaccinations very well.

I had no adverse reactions to either dose. I did get redness around the site and a small lump where some liquid settled, but nothing major. I'm guessing that was because it was subcutaneous whereas most other vaccinations are intramuscular. I normally don't have any noticeable adverse reactions.

Some people couldn't understand why I'd wanted to get the vaccination as it's 'just like chickenpox.' I told them to Google 'Monkeypox' and click the images tab and they practically threw up in their mouths.

Now they're saying people could be contagious before any noticeable symptoms or signs, so I'm glad I did it.
