I wouldn’t have though that, particularly in Ireland since Turkish Ottoman, Sultan Khaleefah Abdul-Majid I sent aid to Ireland during the famine, as did the Native American Choctaw people.

Most Irish people view people different to themselves with a bit of suspicion. If you came here you would find making friends with Irish people difficult, and probably experience racism. It takes a long time to get to know Irish people because they tend to stick to their own communities and people which can be difficult to break into for foreigners. If you come here as a single man then you will find getting meets very difficult. If you come as a couple it would be far easier. We are definitely getting more accepting of foreigners here, but we have a long way to go.

I don't know any Turkish people but I have worked with many nationalities.

I treat them like they treat me regardless of where they are from.

I agree that while Ireland has a reputation for being a welcoming country that doesn't necessarily mean Irish people across the board are inclusive.

Not all Muslims though!

I only know one Turk and he is a nice guy. He is not Muslim but Christian.

This, Ireland's purported friendliness is pretty superficial.

I’d be a bit worried about any country that allows the mass imprisonment of 100s of journalists due to their views!

And yes, any country that includes religion in their politics is dodge! And that includes USA, god bless this, god bless that! Ffs.
