"...it is coming! Finally! We gonna hit/surpass the 20 degree mark this coming weekend. Are you ready?
Jaysus, we had 22 and 23° back in mid June. "
Where was that? Cuddled up amongst the sheeps? |

The warmest day of June was 23.9° at the Phoenix Park reporting station.
Pretty much that entire week was 20 above in the east of the country. |

My shack is on a windly hill in the sticks, I can't compete with sheltered Phoenix park. Anyhow it's the first Summer I've decent garden furnitures but haven't even used them once so far cos it was just too cold in the evening to sit outside. |

To be fair, wind chill and temperature are two different things. Jaysus, I'll end up cranky now. Wind doesn't affect air temperature, just whether you feel warm or cold. |

Ah now you're becoming pedantic (*makes a note to oneself: never get into a weather argument with an irish men), my outdoor activities are guided by how I feel and not by the difference of temperature and wind chill. The two of them work together to put me off sitting outside. |

I can't help it. I work outdoors and the weather is a big factor in planning work, as well as doing it.

Heat wave..... lol.
23 Degrees is not heat, it is good for spring. As well knowing they calculate it in full sun imagine in shade it will be barely 20 if there is no wind.
Any way, hoping for the best. |

Wait, what?
Temperatures aren't measured in full sun, or even half sun.
Temperatures are measured in a Stevenson screen which protects from sunlight but allows free air movement. |

I'm pretty sure she was taking the piss by suggesting that 20 degrees might be a heatwave? |

Anything above 20 degrees classifies as heatwave in Ireland. It's when the Irish start to complain that they can't sleep at night because it's too hot. |

Well over 20 would be a heatwave in February or March, if it lasted 5 days or more, but not in July |

Weather forecasters, and the organisations which supply the data on future weather, have a tendency to cover their asses since the now infamous Michael Fish BBC forecast in 1987.
Frankly, the exaggerate!
I predict it will be mild and sunny in Ireland, but the predictions for the far south of England are quite frightening; an air temperature in the high thirties which I would find intolerable.
Central London has a micro climate caused by stagnant air because of the high buildings.
In Ireland the air is invariably moving.
Lots of water, sun block if required and stay in the shade if possible.
Warm nights for me are a nightmare! |

"I haven't opened the curtains or blinds for a week....what is it doing out there?
You'll have to cut the grass before it blocks the windows "
The curtains are nicely blocking them anyway |

Unfortunately it's overcast like yesterday, although warm the sun rarely breaks through. I'm telling you it's this McCarthy fella's fault, he predicted those clouds (see above), those Leitrim men have a special relationship with the water and the weather.... |

Bloody killing me. Not one for the heat. If you are more power to you enjoy it while it lasts. I'll be hiding in the house with an icepack strapped to my bald head. |

In 1976, the low water levels in the reservoirs was regarded very seriously with rationing and strict enforcement, but that year the very warm weather was over a very prolonged period, whereas next week is a short sharp shock of exceptional intensity in GB, and less so in Ireland. |
