Nuts..

Was quoted 735€ recently for a standard room at The Gibson.

50 quid extra for breakfast.

Told them I might consider the breakfast if the sewer ran out of shite to eat but told them they could shove the room up their Swiss roll!!

Frigging hotels federation!

Whining for 2 years cause of Covid-19 effect on them. Got millions on subsidies. Then, when covid restrictions lifted, they wallop the stuffing out of joe public with the above costs!

Typical paddy rip off business action

I was only looking stay 1 fecking night… over €370!! Best of it is… I was working and staying in the same hotel the last 2 years, even during Covid when they opened. It’s shocking.. ok I work but what tourist wants to pay that cost?

It's one thing gouging Irish people but doing it to foreign tourists is a complete own goal.

Many will just skip Ireland and never come back.

I've heard something that Americans etc log in through a certain domain,..that they're recognised as a tourist and get cheaper prices because of it,only the locals get ripped off

Why would i ever pay this if it it is the same price as flying to Berlin Business class and stay in 5 star Steigenberger

Cork ain’t much better , it’s a matter of time that the Irish hospitality industry prices itself out of business by applying short term focussed greed

I suspect they’re bouncing on a good opportunity for them . The Ukrainian refugee crisis means their beds are filled and they have fewer beds. Demand means even overpriced beds will be taken by rich/corporate/desperate people . And they ll squeeze as much money out of this as possible . We just have to vote with our feet

Agrees & when this all passes boycott the hungry shower of ba s tads and let them go out of business

Treat people right with affordable rates and reap the benefits Not screw the people

It’s much like the prices of the fuel too

Why would you drop your prices if you owned a hotel and were full anyway

Hotels in Dublin are running at 95% ocucapacity and dont care if some people are put out...they'll charge what they can until business slows down

At present they have a lot of gigs in Dublin to help fill rooms and Mr Brooks selling out 5 nights in croke park in September and Robbie Williams selling out 3 nights in 3Arena in October they're laughing all the way to the bank

When a promoter block books 40 rooms in a hotel before the gig is announced the hotels know why and bump up the prices....dynamic pricing like airline seats and car parking at Dublin airport

I interviewed with a local hotel recently and we discussed this in my interview. She said as long as there's people willing to pay those prices they will continue to charge them.

Every county is the same, high prices.

A future effect to Hotel demand will be the new Airbnb planning rules which will demand planning permission for short term accommodation

This may mean more apartments to let but less for Holiday Traffic

Frankly, the outrageous prices in all hotels have forced me to fall back on the Life Membership of the International youth hostel association that I bought for a pittance forty plus years ago.

No meets, but a very cheap night's rest in reasonable comfort and cleanliness.

Yer better off buying a secondhand car than renting one and flog it again. My little run around costed me less than 1000quid over two years ago and still running strong.

As for the hotel prices, insane and outrageous, not going near one.

You could argue if we keep the prices at madness level it solves eventually the airport mess with lesser tourists coming in and less embarrassment over complete management and governmental failure. Maybe is all planned!

Anyhow I predict that lads who can accommodate will see an increase in demand, I know so shallow but who cares when it saves you a little fortune.

Have a look at the research into double deck seating on planes.

It's a real proposal to replace the overhead luggage bins in economy class with raised level seating but as there will only be 4 feet of clearance the people in the upper seats won't be able to stand up.

It's designed to allow airlines to reduce the number of flights while claiming it will keep seat costs down.

First reactions are that it will encourage staycations and make an already claustrophobic space even more so.

Nuts the government are allowing them to charge these extortionate prices.

Imagine you were changing flights here and missed the connection flight, be a nightmare!

Probably next thing they will say is children are to be seated in them or pay full price for ordinary seats

BEFORE YE LASH BACK saying it can’t be done for different reasons … I’m well aware of that but not the way these hungry hoors see it or even care

As far as I know there's no children's fee, they pay full already.
