Me too, and how does one go about gaining entry into these cliques?
Is there an exam?
What are the perks?
Asking for myself, I don’t have friends, they’re a bit cliquey I find… |

It would help you to get into one if you didn't go around with a big ax in your hand.....unless you're a fireman |

"starting a new clique. Men or women complaining about cliques.
If we're already in a clique can we join this one?
Are you allowed to do that or is it only one clique at a time?"
U can join this only but have to leave others. Aim of this clique is disagree with other cliques even if they are right. We basically dislike other cliques. |

"Will never understand why people get so obsessed with this clique stuff "
Not obsessed… just an observation, and when the issue is raised it’s funny to see the “cliques” reaction.
It never used to be so cliquey on here. I’ve rejoined several times over the last few years, but have to say the last six months it’s got pretty bad |

I've been here over ten years on and off. I've only encountered one clique and that was a long time ago now. People really need to stop blaming imaginatary cliques for their own short comings on this site. |

Here's the tricky bit:
Fabbers that are perceived by onlookers as clique members don't regard themselves as such, nor do they see the group of fabbers they interact with regularly as clique.
However I can easily understand that a newbie or outsider has the perception of a clique on here.
Anyhow I'll keep my seat on the fence and watch the clique feud developing. |

This seems to summarise it fairly well.
The problems then start for some people when they are not instantly riding every person they contact, ego takes a hit, the paranoia starts to kick in and of course its someone's fault! |

You must have missed the vulture club few years back, circling over the forum until a single man dared to say 'beep'. There was a fair bit of carnage ... |

Last I remembered was the banterville crew and their tiresome derailing of threads they didn't like. The vultures must have been during a break we had. |

Fab is undeniably full of cliques. It's natural, groups and sub groups held together by common interests and those who hold similar views and interests.
We are hardwired for both connection to others and protection for ourselves and to others by association. Those inside usually don't realise and respond in a defensive way to the observation.
Defensiveness is an impulsive and reactive mode of responding, usually with a overprotective mentality to a situation that perhaps doesn't warrant it.
A defensive approach usually only confirms what the onlooker has noticed and providing proof to the onlooker. To be more inclusive and try to find out why they may think that and acknowledge that their observations have validation would be better, rather than just discard it thus demonstrating a cliquey approach to them.
Maybe we are far more cliquey than we believe, we do exclude many often and make them feel unwelcome. Many comments in this post unfortunately only go to demonstrate this.

Are there groups of people who like to interact mainly with each other? Yes
Is there one massive cabal of people plotting to stop you having a good time on fab and getting the ride? Well if someone thinks the answer is yes I can see why they would struggle.
It's natural that people gravitate and agree with those who have the same mindset. It's also natural that people defend their friends at times even if they are clearly in the wrong.
None of that is preplanned or malicious and it happens in every walk of life.
The other thing that happens here that gets thrown in with clique is that women get in the most part an easier ride ( and can get a ride easier) though I'm my time here I've notice that those who will agree with anything a woman says in the hopes of increasing their chances, are the ones who end up coming back complaining that the women here think they are on a pedestal |

We have been here many years and the way i see it is that a thread is started , and on alot of them , a "group" of people will just derail the thread by chatting to eachother and going way off topic , its not really cliques as such its just that people get along and unfortunately use the threads to interact in some sort of way , ive posted on many threads over the years and my comments get lost in said convos , its just the way it is here unfortunately
Just my tupence worth
