I think after so many lockdowns the hotel industry will be trying to claw back some profits this year so will be paying over the odds for shitty rooms. Maybe check out air b n b or try Dayuse.ie if you could meet during the day. You can use rooms 9 - 5 |

I think a lot of accommodation in the country is being soaked up by the effort to take in Ukrainian refugees. If it means I have to meet in a car, tent, woods or even abandoned shed, I'm glad I'm taking up a space needed. |

I've noticed the same. The whole family normally go to a particular hotel each year for my birthday. Had to cancel this year as it was 3 times the normal price.
A small inconvenience compared to those who no longer have safe homes. |

From what I have heard, many hotels take in refugees and others are struggling to get staff to clean the rooms and significant inflationary cost increases to run them. So there are empty rooms out there but they cannot service them to sell and they try to cover the lost revenues / increased costs. So the not so “perfect” storm which is driving all the price increases.. don’t see them coming down anytime soon  best chance to get to get cheaper rooms will probably be outside of Dublin or airBnB |
