What does a wink mean to you?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Just curious what people think when they receive a wink. Do you see it as an invitation to chat (or do you send them with that thought) or is it more of a "you're looking well, fair play, happy fabbing"? Just curious to know other people's thoughts but I feel it's more of the first than second |

It means fab my pics but I'm seriously not interested otherwise so don't try and contact me after - but don't dare pass my profile without a fab
And now on a serious note
...it means different things for different people.
Personally, we've put effort into writing our profile and displayed what we feel are original pics - if someone is interested in getting to know us - send us a message. I actually reply to them (yes, that's because we're not inundated because we've got men blocked ). There's plenty to go on from our profile (and forum contributions), so make it something original and eye catching. Anything else is sheer laziness and unoriginality.
However, if your profile is an eye catcher, we might forgive you and make a rare exception and acknowledge the wink |

I'd see it as a way to gauge interest. Send one of you get one back send a message. Wouldn't seek many share the sentiment so a message is probably better |

I've all notifications turned off and I rarely look at my home screen so I often have winks that are weeks or even months old before I notice them.
I don't send messages or winks but as already said people use them for all sorts of reasons.
I've even seen them used as a nudge to tell people they've just been blocked. |

Depends on who it's from. If it's someone we have on our hotlist or are interested in talking to we will wink back. If it's some randomner we'll take it as their not bothered writing a mail or unable to think of something to write |

I rarely look at my winks anymore.I just got out of the habit.
I've used them before to make first contact if I like someone's profile or when someone might be outside my filters if they wink back I'd message them or they have messaged me depending on when we are online.I rarely use them now tho I would prefer to just send a message .

It means coffee meet then play meet, followed by weekends away, then declarations of love, mountain walks, marriage, children, pets, mortgages, trips to Woodies, all inclusive holidays, pension, retirement. Do I have that right? |

I don't see what all the fuss is about winks. It's just a like button. If I saw something interesting on fb I'd like it and in the same way if someone caught my eye in here I'd like it too. There's no expectations no alterier motive no can I msg you now, it's just a "hey that's a nice profile" . If someone winks back then well and good if not,no sleep will be lost, no one needs to perish and no animals will be harmed in the making of a wink.
It's just a wink |

If I send a wink: invitation to chat, check out my profile. Generally prefer to message but it's hard when so many profiles are bare.
If I receive one: I guess I'm taking it as an expression of interest. Would tend to send a message |

Definite invitation to message may as well be honest. I very rarely get them but if you wink me, you'll more often than not get a message when I see it*
*exception for when there's a winky forum game going on... |

"I think of it as a way of letting someone know I like their profile, gives them a chance to look at mine, if I get a wink back I send a message "
Same here. We see it as an expression of interest. If we like the profile we wink back or message |

A wink to me is kind of the same as fabbing a photo, but you're fabbing their entire profile instead.
As in you like what they've written in their bio and are interested in striking up a conversation. |

Wink to me means that you are interested. I use it as testing the waters if someone responds I then send a message as I don’t what to be sending unwanted messages and blocking up there inbox. That’s my view of winks. I don’t use it to be lazy or a lack of homework effort |

We regard winks more of as an initial hailing frequencies open. We're interested in you.
If they like our profile and send a wink back then it's an invitation to send a PM. |

A wink for us is a “look at me” statement. We review all the winks we receive and if we like we wink back and/or message depending on how shy I’m feeling.
Funny how none of the men we wink back ever message |

I don’t send winks, because I think they mean “I’m interested in you, but I don’t have the balls to actually initiate conversation, and want you to do it.”
I don’t mind girls sending me winks, because traditionally the man is seen as the one who should initiate conversation, but have nothing against girls approaching me (or wouldn’t have if it ever happened ) |
