Hi there, I suffer from psoriasis and at times it can be very bad, especially looks worse after getting out of the shower. It affects mainly my lower back, bum cheeks and legs.
The question I want to ask would it put people off meeting a psoriasis sufferer, even though its not contagious it does look very unsightly and could be considered off putting.
I'm very self conscious of it,so even though I'm on this site a while,I find I've a reluctance to really engage in lookin for meets on here because of it.
I know this looks a bit of a vanity thread, but I'd genuinely like to get peoples thoughts on it. |

Thanks for the reply, it's just something I'm self conscious of,now I've had meets and it hasn't been an issue,I have told people prior to meets too, that I suffer from it ,and they've been ok with it.
Like said in my 1st post, maybe I've started a vanity thread or it's just in my head it would put people off,and it's more about my insecurity
And fair play for your helpfulness |

Many oldest daughter has it. Before lockdown she went to s hairdressers to get a trim .
Psoriasis on her forehead and scalp is particularly her worse spots. The hairdresser after her hair washed by another stylist or trainee, stood back and started saying "what's that on your head and forehead" My daughter explained its Psoriasis, but the hairdresser still while stepping back was saying 'I'm not touching THAT". With that my daughter left the salon in tears and was embarrassed..It took a long time for my daughter to regain any confidence in going to a hairdresser. |

Sorry to hear that,I go to the same barbers every time and told him from the start I had psoriasis ,so the experience your daughter got is not something I've experienced, but I can totally understand your daughters experience and it can be distressful.
You would think that most hair dressers would be familiar with psoriasis especially when it does affect the scalp and forehead in most instances. |

OMFG. That is so unprofessional and bloody rude!! I’m so sorry for your daughter.
To the OP: I don’t have psoriasis but I do have a physical “situation” that needs explaining before I’ll get naked with someone or they could balk. I havnt had anyone be weird about it once I’ve explained it, so maybe is that something you could do?
“I have a skin condition called Psoriasis,it’s unsightly at worst, but just wanted to let you know”. Honestly it wouldn’t bother me at all but I’d like to be warned so I didn’t do or say something that could upset you. |

That's terrible. Properly apprenticed hairdressers should be trained to identify harmless conditions like that. I suffered with it in the exact same place for a long time. Tried everything including steroid injections. Nothing ever completely cleared up the redness but the best thing I ever found for keeping the scaly skin under control was hair conditioner. I would rub it into my scalp and face about 10mins before a shower and then shower as normal. It would soften any dry layers so they could be easily washed off. Not perfect but the best I've found. It restored my self confidence. |

I have suffered for 4 yrs
Hands in ribbons and feet

Totally rocked my confidence and had a big effect on relationship
Have been to nemorous dertomigiost nothing worked until Feb this year
Started a treatment called imuran
In 3 weeks I was transformed
Back to normal again
Can walk and work and most important use my hands and fingers again lol
I would recemmond a good dertomigiost to help with it
It's soul destroying otherwise |

Thanks for all the replies, my psoriasis is mainly on parts of my my body which unless I was undressed nobody can see ,so it's not something that overly concerns me ,but in the context(not sure if this is the word I should be using)of a site like this where you're hoping to be undressed with other people ,thts where my concern about my condition kicks in |

I've suffered for years with severe eczema and allergies. Some great days some awful days but I've learnt to hold my head up high. I tell any meets to please not wear any sort of fragrance and have to bring my own cosmetics etc with me. Even then I can still react because my skin is so sensitive, not one has said anything bad or made me feel self conscious. Theyre just happy to enjoy the overall experience so it's given me confidence to not let it bother me either |

You could try homeopathy too. I had a bad skin inflammation on my fingers and back of my hands. Twas something I was embarrassed about. It would flare up if I was nervous or anxious. Tried a few sessions of homeopathy and to be honest it did get a bit worse before it got better. Now it's under control. Best of luck. If you do try it, pass the suggestions on to someone else. |

Psoriasis research, and in particular the aetiology (origin) of this condition is accelerating; a lot of work is investigating the link between gut bacteria, the microbiome, and skin flakiness, like psoriasis.
Kefir is reported to be worth investigating; this is fermented milk that was first made in the muddle east, but is now available to buy, but the very best is home-made kefir, which has the maximum amount of beneficial bacteria.
Jan de Vries, now deceased used to recommend Molkosan
Google Kefir, microbiome, etc., and take it from there.
Most treatments are topical; to combat the dryness; the key is to identify the core source of this skin problem, which is where research is now focused. |

My sisters daughter suffered from psoriasis. I had some aloe vera plants here so I gave her one which helped her condition. I think she grew out of it as it hasn't been mentioned for a year or two. |

People with Psoriasis very frequently have anxiety and depression issues that exacerbate this condition that destroys a sufferer's self confidence.
Yoga, mindfulness and relaxation techniques do help, but everyone is different. |

I have it all my life but was worse when I was a child.
It's totally exasperated by stress and the cold.
I've found the best thing to help is the sun. Also your diet..try to eliminate dairy, wheat, tomatoes and peppers as much as possible. You are what you eat...
Try to use non-bio washing powder and fragrance free toiletries. Try to wear cotton and less synthetic clothes.
Best of luck OP

" get her to try the new head and shoulders, it's derma xpro range, it has a shampoo conditioner and a third bottle to use on tge scalp. It's brand new in green and gold bottles, so far so good for me. Only in boots so far to buy. |
