Hi everyone , this isn't a rant btw, it's just a thread to point out the cost of tickets to see your favourite artist in Dublin in the 3Arena , Ticketmaster charge €7.15 extra for " Handling " charge , you pay and extra €1 for venue fee on top of each ticket ,in a full capacity the venue holds 17,000 for a standing event and 14,000 for a seated event , therefore Ticketmaster gets €121,550 for a standing event and €100,100 for a seated event and the venue itself gets €17,000 & €14,000 per event depending on what it is as well as whatever price the ticket is and their cut from same also ,so the bottom line is you pay €8.15 extra on each ticket and they're allowed to do so , lm fully aware that you have no option but to pay if you want to see your favourite artist in action and that is only the 3 Arena , imagine what Ticketmaster take in if say there was an 80,000 capacity in a stadium or an outdoor event.

Capacity is 13,500 standing and 10,000 seating but yes the ticket prices are terrible

Live Nation own 3Arena and Ticketmaster and MCD so its all connected

Insurance plays a huge part in the price of tickets as does the fact that we're an island and all the equipment has to get over here as part of a European tour

You can't even print most tickets anymore but they're saved on your phone to avoid touting

Ticketmaster say that the service fee is paying for the softwear

The 3Arena has all its own sound system so any artist that plays there doesn't have to bring their sound as such as if they were playing an outdoor event but the capacity figures were what l got to be true , anyway it doesn't matter , I just think that what a person pays per ticket is unjustified but it's only my opinion ,they get the same amount every event if full , most artists are with livenation now so are guaranteed their money regardless but l just think people have to pay " extras " which don't have to be as high

Unfortunately. This is what happens when US companies operate in the EU. They are always the first to start the nickel and dime'ing. When everyone else see that it is having little effect because on mass fools and their money are easily parted they all do it. Don't get me wrong. Voicing with your wallet and not buy things does not help the economy and us in the end. It's people that need to start weening off convenience and properly shop around so to start driving down prices. They play on fear of missing out. One smart quote from a kids movie. A person is smart. People are stupid animals

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to reduce fees/commissions/ticket prices while they ate selling out large venues. Why would they. I wouldn't.

Yup, bottom line I'd that it's your choice to get ripped off. Don't want to pay? Don't go. It's entirely discretionary expenditure.

you're missing the point , it's everyone who pays , people will go see their favourite artists , it's not a choice to be ripped off , people do not have a choice , they are ripped off with no choice in that situation, Ticketmaster rip off the public without even thinking about it .You have your point of view , l have mine , they make millions off the backs of people simply because people enjoy going to see their favourite artists, if you don't mind paying that's your choice but l think people are being ripped off big time .

People do have a choice...they don't have to pay for a ticket

They can just stream their favorite artist instead

How much should it cost to see Ed Sheeran In Ireland this month in your opinion

Whatever the price of seeing him live without the excessive " handling " charge that is never questioned .. Ticketmaster have a monopoly on whatever they charge ..if they charged €10 ..it wouldn't make any difference...you wanna go see them or you don't ..my point in this whole thread is making people aware of what they pay extra ..some people don't realise ...I know people have paid exhuberant prices for front row or meet & greet etc but that is not my point .

Ticketmaster/LiveNation are rip off merchants. The fees and charges for tickets are getting ridiculous and, from what I can see, unjustified.

Pearl Jam used to play free gigs occasionally just as a protest against them specifically, though they haven't done that in a while.

Personally I try using Eventbrite or others where possible but, for some that I want to see, it's just not an option.

Do I recall the government trying to tackle this quite a few years ago? Maybe it's time they have another go at it

My Man ..at least someone agrees with me as regards Ticketmaster ripping off people. Pearl Jam did try and do something about a billion pound syndicate ripping off the general public but were swimming against the tide from the start but HUGE SALUTE to them for trying.
