Trotting down the Grand Parade street in Cork not two hours ago, I had a chance meeting with a Latvian ex girlfriend I dated over ten years ago.
After a few pleasantries were exchanged, she quips " Isn't Vladimir Putin doing a great job of de- Nazification in the Ukraine" I very nearly lost the plot with her entirely, and it took every ounce of self restraint I possess not to slap the stupid bitch across the face.
She sits on her ass in her comfortable council house watching Russian propaganda television all day long, so It's hardly surprising that she is pro Russian.
It makes one wonder just how many Russian speaking people living in our relatively safe democratic country are brainwashed by Russian federation propoganda?

Perhaps my Latvian ex girlfriend may change her pro Russian federation stance when Putin rolls his tanks into Latvia, and turns her country to rubble. |

Well, in Latvia there are 2 trains of thought about Putin, depending on what part of the country you are in. The majority of Latvians do not support Putin. However there are a small minority who live in small villages and in the countryside who do support Putin but however, when EU money and subsidiary money is been handed out they are in the front of queue. Having a Latvian Wife and 2 Stepsons, and many Latvian friends who say they are European. And the number of articles in the Latvian press which are crucial of the invasion, and pro EU and NATO. |

Shes not to be blamed for believing the media that she is reading and hearing. That's what many people do. Thats why Putin controls the media in the way he does. Not everyone has the critical thinking skills needed to read between the lines and look for other sources. The fact is there ARE far right elements in Ukrane who were integrated into the regular army. That's a propaganda wet dream. It's not a justification for war any more than the search for nonexistent WMD'S was for the USA and Britain. |

Have you critically analyzed the information stream coming from Ukraine? It has been super slick, super organised from the first day of the invasion. Its all very believable, until you compare it with info from central asian news sources. There are no good guys on either side in a war, just many civilians whose lives have been destroyed. |

yeah umm....never happened. average person does not use a VPN. even less likely the older the person is. so..doubtful she's watching any Russian propaganda as all Russian Media sources are banned almost all western world wide. over a month now.
now...this post makes me wonder on the validity of your women being one and done post yesterday

Was just thinking the same, everything is blocked without a VPN, even Nord went down for a week at the beginning of the month if you wanted to use a server in Russia?? I smell an attention seeker! 
Seen a few comments about critical thinkers, it would make you laugh when you look at their viewpoints on everything is as mainstream as it comes, maybe they don't understand critical thinking and the ability to investigate alternative sources of information! |

i agree in regards of critical thinking. but this is a plain old case of right and wrong. when humanity learns to love one another more than the love of power. only then things change. as for the OP...dude..stop with the made up complaints. be yourself pal.....but if being yourself is the issue for you. we cant help you lol |

Just because you believe russia invaded for other reasons, does not mean you give the ukraine a free pass.
If you say you know better than her, youre a liar as we are all on the same page, we are all getting our news from propoganda outlets. I have tried very hard to find balanced commentary and its not out there.
Why not instead of insult your ex, sit down and discuss your view with her. Say you think its a cover for? that the reason for it is x,y,z?
Maybe say russia just wants to keep donbass shale gas out of Nato/EU control.
Latvians are nice, even if they are pro russian, they can discuss stuff with you. |
