Having to break out of an abandoned house I accidentally got locked in after a party. No electricity so pitch black and a guard dog snarling somewhere.
Broke a window and clambered out to land in a garden overgrown with brambles. Clothes and skin cut to ribbons.
Heading for the main road as the crow flies involved descending into several courtyards, more angry dogs and then discovering I lost my house keys somewhere along the way when I finally got back to civilization.
Not a night I ever want to repeat, the fear was real |

I was around 7 or 8, went to a garden pub with my parents had a field at the back with fencing.
A man and I can still see him asked me to go and see the rabbits with his arm out to take me . Luckily I hesitated and said I go ask my mum first. I still remember my mums face when I told her and her screaming for my dad |

I could write a book about close calls and great escapes from hijackings, bombs and bullets but the one that comes to mind involves falling 50 feet headfirst out of a tree. I hit a branch about 8 feet from the ground which spun me around and I landed on my feet with just a bruise on my back from the branch. |

That sounds like a stunt scene in a James Bond movie...lucky escape.
Similar story to an earlier post aged 8-9 with my friend. Man asked us to help find his lost dog...we were alone playing in a park at the time.
He lifted my friend up above his head to look up her skirt. I ran over and kicked him in the shin. He dropped my friend and we ran. Have had other lucky escapes but that was the first to come to mind. |

As a child got swept out to sea on an airbed on a beach in co wicklow
Ended up in a cave with a couple of feet of air over my head but got very tired and between hitting the walls and the waves I fell off and went under
Felt very peaceful as I knew I was drowning but then 3 men came in and grabbed me and swam back out with me into the main body of water
Brought ashore wrecked but ok |

I had a similar one a few years ago. I was pruning a tree and up on a ladder, just above gutter height on the house. I felt the ladder moving and realised it was about to slide backwards on the wet driveway. I prepared myself and grabbed hold of two branches just as the ladder slid backwards and down. I held on for a few seconds, complimenting myself on how resilient I was. Then the two branches broke and down I went, feet first. I landed standing upright, wedged between the sides of the ladder which had got caught a few feet off the ground,my feet just about reaching the ground. It took me about ten minutes to get out of it and I was in bits. A couple of broken ribs and a number of nasty skin tears and bits of flesh missing, blood all over the place. Happy enough not to have broken a leg or two though. |

Another close call was out on the mountains about 10 years ago and the weather closed in. Literally couldn't see more than an arm's length in any direction and it was only my second time in that particular area.
I was on my own but heard voices calling and people shouting back and forth and stopped to see if I could work out where they were.
Just at that the mist cleared and there were about a dozen people all within a few hundred yards but I had stopped about 2 feet from a 100 foot drop. |

Couple of years ago, I had a coffee meet with an accountant. Sipping our coffees the conversation flow like sticky rice and was as exciting as watching paint dry. When he eventually said to me he could do my figures, I ran, I ran as fast as I could in my high heels and short dress, I ran to safety and I locked the door behind me.
Since I'm scared of coffee meets and avoid them. |

That happened to myself and my sister walking home from the shop one day, we were quite young. A man stopped his car, got out, opened the back door and said he'd drive us home. We told him our house was just up the road (he could see it) and with that he hopped back in his car without a word and drove off.
I still remember what he and his car looked like |

Jaysos McCarthy I know I shouldn't have laughed but I confess I did, your fall sounded like an Buster Keaton act. I can literally see you stuck in that ladder with the legs kicking like a baba in a walker.

Knot in my stomach at this one - travelling abroad and in a very remote town at night (pre-mobile days) i had to use a public toilet while my friend minded the bags.
When i came out of the cubicle a man was there blocking the exit door with his arms spread across it ... saying 'Kissy Kissy'.
I was terrified, alone in there, but from where I dont know but i got the guts to walk up to him, shout NO in his face and shove him out of the way.
Near heart attack came later with all the adrenaline ...

Met a woman online who was from a town about 100 kilometres away in West Cork. From the beginning there was primal animal attraction, and the sex was mind blowing. I just couldn't get enough of her and would stay with her on a regular basis. Until I discovered that she had a propensity for caving guys heads in with a hurly stick. Yikes |

Closest one i ever had was driving on a reasonably wide road i.e. one with sorta half a hard shoulder, clipping along at a reasonable speed when i turned a corner to see two trucks coming at me, there had been a long straight and one truck was overtaking the other but obviously misjudged how long that manouver would take. In those split seconds both trucks moved onto the small hard shoulders on each side, giving me just enough space to squeeze between them, and i mean squeeze! Both wing mirrors were removed with a number of dents and scratches as the wings mirrors rolled between the trucks and the side of the van. Need some clean shorts after that one |

"Growing up in NI dodging bullets was second nature.
A bit like my fab experience
Don't think you can compare the 2 RB
Fab is much more dangerous "
Only because fabbers use Hollywood six shooters that never seem to need reloading. Their itchy trigger fingers often result in shooting themselves in the foot. |

This reads like a script for a horror movie; that experience will have been indelibly etched into your memory, undoubtedly! |

A teacher at a school that I attended invited me into a store cupboard and locked the door.
He reached down and when I realised his intentions I almost kicked the door off its hinges; he became frightened, let me out, and never approached me again, at least on the school premises.
If I was to reveal the full story, it would be deleted!

Decades ago I went to work for a guy whose wife used to wake me in the middle of the night and stand over my bed, wearing only a babydoll nightdress.
I thought it was possibly a setup to determine if I would be interested in a threesome, which I was not as I was involved in a long-term relationship, at that time.
I brought up the subject of her nocturnal visits with my bosd, and thankfully it then ended.
She was stunning, and if I had been single, of if it happened now, my attitude would be very different. She had an exceptional interest in sex!
At the time I regarded it as a lucky escape. |

During the course of The Troubles, I had several Very Very lucky escapes, including being blown up; mercifully I have survived and thrived!
Experiences like that have a tendency to make one hypervigilant, which is one of the main symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). |

Do frightening incidents like this still happen; decades ago they used to be reported very often.
Have these types of people moved online, rather than approaching young people in the street? |

That is the type of scenario that happens quite frequently on high mountains in England and Scotland, especially on Ben Nevis that has massive drops close to pathways. |

I was selling the house in London and got a buyer offer the asking price even though the survey revealed asbestos and all sorts
I went to clear the loft, missed a step and my foot went through
Got a call from the buyer within minutes saying they wanted a second viewing there and then
I made up an excuse under significant pressure
Got a builder to repair the damage and the sale went through And was life changing really
There was also the time in the Congo when the guerillla fighters blockaded the road
The driver gave them a brown paper bag
Not sure if that was planned
We reimbursed him anyways

I fell out of the back door of the car when I was 5 years old, going around a corner. I hit the bank at the side of the road and rolled back onto the road under the trailer that was being pulled behind the car and got away with a bump on the head and cuts and bruises on my arms. I can still see the underside of the trailer as it went over me |
