Perhaps I should be more specific : I'm basically looking for a guy who is assertive and dominant, the kind of person who is quietly confident in themselves and their ability to get what they want from a sub |

"The guy is stating a preference for a particular type he is looking for. Nothing wrong with that. Just because it's not your preference doesn't mean it should be criticised."
Alphas believe they are better than everyone else and spout shite regularly to support this. It’s an MO I see quite frequently.
Clearly the OP is not looking for an “alpha”, but a dominant. And the observation stands. |

Agree with red.
I think the other response wasn't criticising him but trying to help him. |

"Just wondering if there are any alpha Tops out there? Bottom here looking to be dominated by an assertive, confident guy.
Keen to hear from you! "
Have a look at Hotpics and filter to Irish males. Tops seem to like posting pics and vids so you might find what you are looking for that way |

Are true alpha males those guys with charm, charisma and natural leadership skills who percolate to the upper echelon of most social groups, rather than dominant egomaniacs who want to aggressively be top dog, but without necessarily have skills, personality and aptitude to naturally get there? |

Good luck OP
As an aside. Hasn't the classic definition of Alpha male been thoroughly debunked as a red herring. The original author of the wolf study just made the whole thing up.
And there's at least three definitions already in this thread |

Kinda. There is definitely such a thing as an alpha male in the wild, primates for example... But seemingly no, not wolves. |

"I'd rather compare humans to spider monkeys or bonobo's than chimp's or gorilla's.
I just wonder if those anthropomorphic identifications are a little arbitrary."
Meh. We are all animals. The point is there IS such a thing as an alpha male in groups in the animal kingdom. |

Of course. I just don't believe the animal kingdom definition translates to humans.
The classic trope of the 'alpha' power broker going straight to his domme after work is a good example.
Primates live in social hierarchies that continue throughout life in their pack and the selection process isn't understood.
Humans don't live like that. We often adopt various persona's that suit or environment. Professional and personal. Parent and Kinky Ridebag.
Men might like to play alpha or ascribe selective traits to others but as a species there's no evidence that we select a dominant male to fertilize all our females |

Not sure I believe that. You don't think many girls gravitate towards tall healhy powerful built protective males? It's a genetic thing that's designed to pass on the best genes and have strong healthy kids who get to live into adulthood. Obviously I'm speaking in general terms and there are many other factors at play also. |

Not sure I believe that no. Partly because I'm not tall or powerful and have successfully fulfilled my genetic imperative more than once and partly because a lot of women on here like a dad bod with emotional intelligence.
Genetic diversity doesn't equal the classic definition of beauty. |

Modern medicine, together with a lack of physical danger, and power structures financial and othewise, have meant these things aren't so important these days. There is still an instinct for it though. |
