Went to see the new Batman movie yesterday, watchable enough movie. Not the biggest fan of comic book movies. Mostly just went because I was going with a friend. What’s the best movie you ever watched? It has to be Jaws for me. |

Went to see The Batman the other night , as Batman movies go it was disappointing to say the least , I don't think The Dark Knight will ever be topped ..as for your question ..Braveheart or Gladiator or Jaws for me , truly amazing films |

Parts one and two of The Godfather trilogy are superb; part three is only mediocre and should probably not have been commissioned.
The original Day of the Jackal with Edward Fox, Delphine Seyrig, Michel Lonsdale, Cyril Cusack, Terence Alexander, Bernard Archer, Alan Badile, Anton Rodgers, Barry Ingham, Jean Martin, and directed by Fred Zinneman is a masterpiece of timing, suspence and ultimate failure. |

I'm not a sci fi or fantasy fan in any way but 2001 a space odyssey is up there among the best, and to think it was made in late 60s is incredible. Still holds up today even the special effects
That's where my name comes from,H.A.L.
But before that and all other films are hitchcocks films, any of his top films are masterpieces |

When you consider that Stanley Kubrick's 2001 was made over fifty years ago, it was light years ahead of its time.
Masterpiece is an gross understatement: the advance research he did with Arthur C Clarke was unprecedented.
Apparently the HAL name chouce for the computer was not in any way connected to IBM (one letter removed), but you may differ on this point.
2001 will stand up very well probably even in 100 years time. Avant-garde. |

"Absolute power.... Clint Eastwood
The Great Escape...Steve McQueen."
If you like POW films from WW2, one masterpiece that is worth watching, at least once is Stalag 17.
William Holden stars, as do other embryonic and established actors, one of whom became a prominent director:Otto Preminger.
Very grisly portrayal of POW life: boredom, mud, treachery, profiteering, selfishness, and murder.
The Great Escape 1963 is a fantastic romp, but very largely fictitious.

"The Magdalene Sisters "
This depressing film was an honest portrayal of life for fallen women in these institutions; I visited one frequently and saw what went on there.
To deepen understanding I would suggest you watch online the original documentary on which this film is based. Try google video. |
