So I was having a root canal this morning and the dentist had to use a dental dam, which is a very unsexy piece of plastic. And as I was sitting there trying to ignore the screaming drill I remembered that dental dams were once touted as a form of protection for oral sex. Either vaginal or anal.
And then I wondered, was this ever or is this still really a thing?
I certainly never used them. And I can't imagine them being gracefully or sexily implemented during said activities.

Yes in theory we should all probably wear condoms and use dental dams every time we meet someone for casual sex, as the HPV virus is linked to both throat and cervical cancers. There is a lot of hypocrisy when it comes to putting this into practice.
I am happy to wear a condom while having penetrative sex with a woman, but I've never had one request me to use either a dental dam or a condom while giving or receiving oral.
If you are unlucky enough to have a certain gene in your genetic makeup, then you are predisposed to getting throat and cervical cancer if you are infected with the human papilloma virus. |
