Way back in March 2020, when the mention of the dreaded "C" word sent most of us in a flurry together down to LIDL to stock up on essentials like toilet roll and beer I decided to take a complete mainstream media and social media break for 3 months and instead start meditating and exercising each day
Have to say I felt physically fit and healthy as well as emotionally calm and overall positive attitude. My mood was great and my mind was much more creative
Has anyone here taken a media break or been on a social media diet before and if so, how was your experience?

I most certainly did, when the pandemic started every news outtake I had on my phone.
It took me to a place I didn't like I'm usually a very upbeat person. I turned off the alerts off my phone and generally only checked for messages and watched you tube videos. My daughter now I've told her too take a break from media stuff she's stressing too much over the Ukraine invasion. |

I take a break from here, Facebook and Instagram every now and than. Have culled a lot of "friends" and people I followed on Facebook and Instagram. Definitely can be toxic on them so it's good to take a break. |

I do this all the time take social media and Fab and kik break. I have a app called Stay Focused you can lock yourself out of certain sites and apps. On strict mode there's no way around getting in to change it. I find it so handy |

Started ignoring FB about 2yrs ago, just checking once a month. Now, with latest phone, about 18mths ago, I uninstalled it and haven't been back on it since. Never did Instagram or TikTok, so can't say I'm missing them. When folks send me links to either of the above and you try to reject their cookies, it's practically impossible, so I just reply and let them know that I can't view what they sent me because of questionable cookies.
Slowly but surely my friends are beginning to realise what's going on as a result and they too are using them less |
