Are there any? Typically a very male dominated sector, similar to electrician's, plumbers etc.
Are there any women here who enjoy doing stereotypical traditional handymen duties and ever thought of it as a career? |

I thought about doing something more physical when I was younger and I enjoy dabbling... small electrical jobs, little bits of woodwork, painting and decorating - even learned how to block lay a couple of years ago. But I'm a fair weather DIYer couldn't be doing with wintery conditions and permanent nips on display |

Yeah.. I renovated a few houses over the years. Am a half decent hand at carpentry and a bit of plumbing, tiling, managed a bit of plastering.
Considered getting into decorating for a while but got waylaid having babies.
I love getting physically wrecked by work. It’s the best! |

"Yep. Love DIY. Renovated my house during lockdowns. Saved myself 10k easily.
That’s so deadly. What did you do!??"
Painted all rooms, installed a new IKEA kitchen and laid down vinyl flooring myself haha. Made a few tweaks to existing furniture. |

Bloody well done. I made a kitchen from old bits I pulled from a skip 20yrs ago and installed it myself. It was rudimentary and pretty ugly but it was long before IKEA but I was so unbelievably proud of myself.
Then I found out the roof was asbestos and the whole thing had to come out. I was devastated!! |

"Yeah I enjoy a bit if DIY. One time I was offered cash for naked cleaning. Easiest money I ever made. Walked around hoovering and dusting naked. Cash was fabulous. "
Hahaha that's brilliant. Did you have to wear a maids outfit or just pure naked haha |

Fair play to ya. I always like to try things myself before getting someone to do it. Greater sense of achievement outta it. |

I never was afraid of refurbishing projects but since I bought my own house I took DIY to another level, simply because it's impossible to find a good builder or plumber who's willing to do a 'smaller' job. Thank goodness I found a decent electrician, I'm not going near that one.
Just the kitchen left do do... |

"I'd love to do a crash course on DIY yesterday it took hours for someone to put my TV on the wall.
Talking bout it than have a cup of tea, than getting the right position another cup of tea "
If the tea wasn’t involved it would have taken twice as long lol |
