So whose giving up what for Lent...Seems my kids asked me today is it still a thing that people do not for religious reasons but just to test ourselves

my dad had a health scare after Xmas told give up the fags. When he returned from hospital he smoked his last fag said he had to to say 'good bye " the difference in him and he went cold turkey.
