I was thinking : what makes me like a hotel and want to go back ?
And what puts me off?
Things I like
Interconnecting and group rooms
Free coffee refills
Hot chocolate sachets in the rooms
Hotels where you can go to straight to the rooms from the car park
Day use options
And things I don’t like
Key cards to use lifts
Staff with intrusive questions like why has a single male booked a family room ?
A lack of a cafe/restaurant
A total lack of value for money especially doubling the room price at weekends
What are your likes and dislikes ?

Hate that no discount on room if staying on your own.

Why do they have to be so hot, it’s like staying inside a volcano, stayed in the new maldron in Cork and they had air con in the room some job.
The showers are great but don’t like when it’s over a bath, have a separate shower tray. |

Love a large shower on its own with enough room for 2
Hate the way single people get the room over the pub or air con units ....always ask to be moved
Love being away from the madness of my house even for a night
Lately love having someone beside me all night |

Staff with intrusive questions like why has a single male booked a family room.... they will always say that! Know that for a fact!
Refills for coffee, tea and other items I really like also a big shower.
One good idea you said is lifts from the carpark to your room would really like that but hotel that have that will always use a key card system for security |

I'm not a big fan of hotels in general. They can be useful for meeting alright but staying overnight is normally just a pain: too hot, too noisy, the bedding is uncomfortable and all those other people....
This just boiled up my city west experience, the hotel factory, awful place... |

Large beds and that feel of crisp clean white sheets.
Not having to change those sheets after a lady has soaked them.
The knowing but innocent look on the gorgeous young receptionists face when you check back out again at 11pm |

I tell them it’s because I like to give myself treats |

What i like.
Quick check in. Especially the ones where they have your key card ready and say "welcome back Mr. Cave.
Decent batteries in remote control.
Big bed and spare bed
Good water pressure in a big shower.
Clean crisp linen in beds
Coffee pod machine, I really don't trust kettles.. soo many stories about what goes in them.
What I hate..
Rooms 2 miles from bar.
Poor generic bar food.
No decent chicken on the menu.(its rare i know)
Im easily pleased |

I've just had a lovely stay in the Hodson Bay, lakeview room, chocolates on my bed, lovely comfy bed, had a lovely bath last night and even got candles from reception for the bath, dinner and breakfast was lovely. One of the nicest hotels to stay in. |

"Love a good buffet breakfast
Not keen on the buffet breakfast tendens to be cold breakfast served is much better and check out time bugs me too "
Gotta agree on the breakfast, one of the pluses of Covid measures was the breakfast cooked to order |

Towels - have to have large fluffy towels + a warm towel rail
Warm white toweling robes to wrap up in after a warm bath and slippers
A gas fire in the room - yes they are available in some suites in Dublin
Expensive shower gels/body lotions/shampoos
A spa open late night and early morning with underground heating in the dressing rooms/extra towels and robes and slippers
A garden to look out on from a balcony
Bookmarks in your books when you return in the evening
Free shoe shine overnight
Yes all available in at least 2 Dublin hotels

LOVE hotel rooms here too, even crap ones but things I appreciate are a good coffee machine, bottled water, ice machine, power shower, decent bath products, balcony or full length windows and that wee table whicch is just the right height..... |

The only thing I really hate in hotels are horrible mattresses and poor hygiene. I can live with anything else .
In saying that the things I love when they are available are showers big enough for a few and jacuzzis or jacuzzi baths |
