Cheap Mayo is just Roscommon...

But don't buy cheap Nutella.

Nothing really. The cheap version doesn't mean it's worse quality. All your really paying for with the dearer version is the brand.

Tools and appliances. The difference with some items is palpable. ie had recently to replace my shower mixing tap, only 2 years old but cheap and a no brand, it was an awful yoke. Now I've a German top quality one, it's amazing to look, touch and use it, it's like a smooth horizontal crome dildo with all the right engineering on the insight for a outstanding performance.

While when it comes to food, I'm not a brand buyer at all. My exception is Barry's tea and I noticed cheap vanilla icecream is just puffed up water.

Chainsaws. I've seen too many cheap chainsaws that have become either useless or dangerous before they've paid for themselves. The same goes for most power tools. Good professional equipment is not cheap.

Most things I think

Pepsi/diet

Mayo and any sauce really!

Cheaper version of favourite alcohol

Electrical appliances

Machinery

Might as well spend a little extra to get good quality!

Actually cj, I couldn't find anything in the manual that says you shouldn't. Vorsprung durch Technik.

Couldn’t agree more, I’ve a couple of drills that are 15 years old and the only time they’ve left me down is when I forgot to charge the batteries. If your livelihood depends on it don’t be scrimping. And I think the same goes for hand tools

Definitely agree with you on that. As for ice-cream, tesco's ice-cream is crap.

Power tools is a no brainer. I have had some tools for 20 and 30 years. Using them at professional level. Money well spent.

Tools and electrical items, just buy it once instead of going cheap and buying it twice.

Now looking at other people's answers.... yes, shampoo and conditioner! It must be Bed Head (I don't find it too expensive as large bottles with pumps last me months).

Condoms - yip. Skyns for both of us.

Perfume - yip. Knock off brands just don't smell/last the same.

Teabags - I need two for one cup whenever I get a cheap brand for whatever reason.

Bread - we don't eat it very often, so when we do buy it - it's good quality sourdough or some other premium loaf.

Butter - always real butter only. No margarine or lurpark or any other crap.

Olive oil - cold pressed or coconut oil. Never any other kind of any other vegetable oils.

Chicken Goujons- there's one brand that sells 100% intact breast goujons. Three times more expensive than regular dippers, but also three times cheaper than a deli.

Sausage rolls - we buy premium ones in bulk and just cook them at home when needed.

Speakers - Dirk is obsessed with speakers and sound quality (I don't have a clue about it, just looking at them black big monsters know they don't really belong in a tiny house lol).

Dog food - our dog happens to like the most expensive food on the shelf. He's a rescue. He refused to eat for days before just because he didn't like different foods. Took many many months of buying different brands and cooking different meals to find one brand he's happy with.

Soap.

I hate cheap soaps that dry your hands and reek of synthetic perfume.
