Nobody, the idea of heroes has been shown to be nonsense with all the appalling scandals of recent years, we are all a mixture of good and bad.

Newry Down

No-one.

Celebrities are very frequently narcissists who need a constant supply of attention, admiration and 'stroking' to assuage their inherently fragile personalities, damaged in childhood by parents who had themselves been hurt.

Media help to build public images and just as easily tear them down on a whim.

The greasy pole of fame is best avoided; it is almost invariably illusory.

Wasn’t thinking anyone heroic . More someone standing up for something which helps others

Personally I love Tyson Fury and Dwayne Johnson. Two cool, funny and positive people. I can be cynical enough I suppose about celebrities with high popularity however these two spread positivity and laughs. What's not to admire

cork

No one in an international stage comes to mind. On a local to cork stage, Penny Dinners (a charity) and all involved. Utterly amazing group of people.

East / North, Cork

Rocky Gervais - For his celebrity takedowns particularly at the golden globes, and for afterlife

Prof Brian Cox - For his love of physics and the way he makes it accessible. Also being an ex popstar who had a massive hit singing about ecstscy and generally being a total ride.

Keanu Reeves - For being cool and generous. He should run classes on how to be a celebrity.

Kate Winslett - Because she survived being a child star without imploding. For prioritising her kids over her acting. For choosing awesome strong female roles and killing it every time.

All the trans women from the TV Show pose - MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Angelica Ross.

Taught me more about the lives and struggles of transgender people than any flag, online post or hashtag ever could.

Yes!!! Couldn't agree more!

Also ex Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall. He does a lot for marginalised groups and his book "Mind Games" is a real joy to read

In relation to Tyson Fury spreading positivity and laughs - unless your gay or a woman. If your gay he just despises you and thinks you should burn in hell. Infairness, he's a much more positive view towards women compared to that. He thinks their best place is either in the kitchen or on their back.

Corey Taylor. The guy went through abuse, addiction and multiple other things and has to be one of the more positive people I've ever seen.

Holly Cairns from an Irish point of view. The only blot on her is that she dated someone from Fianna Fail.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson too. They have also navigated being child stars into normal adults very well.

Dunboyne

All those rock stars who smoked and snorted everything going, fucked anything that moved, have 15kids they know about and are still selling millions of albums!

You have to say, You Jammy Bastards!

Oh! Billy Connolly. For making so much of a mockery of the inhibited attitudes to sex and the church a thing of the past. I don't think there's a single individual that helped the collective population to wake up and smell the coffee as much as he did.

Plus his openness about living with Parkinson's and how he gets on with life as best he can.

For me, he's one of the greatest, funniest, real people that ever lived
