This months full moon is the Snow Moon and it was spectacular as it came up over the horizon, about 540pm around these parts.

In my humble opinion it's at its best when low in the sky, before it climbs up and becomes really bright. You can see so much more detail and it appears bigger at that point.

So..do you reckon it has an affect on us, or do you think it's all superstition?

There's an article on MindBodyGreen right now saying how it can spice up your love life (and other aspects of your life)

Afore ye ask me, I'll be outside for a while doing my little FM monthly ritual..Skyclad

A full moon never spiced up my love life, but i know it can influence peoples behaviour sometimes, often in a negative way.

I'm probably being a dose but the moon affects the tides, right? The Earth is about 70% water and so are humans, I don't think it's very far fetched to think the moon can physically affect us too.

Again, I might be being a dose

Hence the term "Looney" to describe "mad" people..you're right to a large extent

Having an interest in ancient traditions, I've read how groups have used it in v positive ways

No, you're not being a "dose" at all, I'm smiling here haven't heard that expression for years , but its gas, I made a pretty similar point in the Shower post saying how good showers are for you as we're 70% water

Clare,

I would usually be open to other people's experiences and expertise but a full moon does affect the body and mind. FACT! I was on nights at Christmas, one night in particular I was like an antichrist and didn't know why, the little things my colleagues did which I didn't like or agree with instead of ignoring, like I had for the week prior I just couldn't. I downed tools and went outside. Full moon.

I travel as part of my job and went to another premises one morning. Within 5 minutes of landing I had a (fraud of) man throw a swing at me.

Full moon.

These are just the examples from the last 3 months I have countless more.

A lady I was courting is an ambulance driver and she said the same the really violent incidents happen when the sky holds a full moon.

I would agree with both of the points made. Water has a calming effect on me.

The Wiccan tradition is one, it's born from v ancient traditions of witchcraft, it's based on nature, being in tune with nature and using the natural world without doing harm to anyone or anything, and basically doing as much good for yourself and the wider group that you are part of

Wiccan groups are so much into this philosophy, they are naturist too as they follow their path

The motto is "do no harm"

And so the big wheel turns and the cycle goes on...you wouldn't be human if it didn't happen to you, I absolutely know you're not making it up

Natural forces affect us,even if we don't know it or believe it

Yes, so much evidence says it affects people and if you are tuned into it more than most, things like what you describe happen around full moons

Worked in security for over 20 years. And I can definitely say, that the moon affects how people behave. Just ask anyone who has worked in security.

The indigenous American tribes used the moon and the seasons to survive and it moulded their way of life for 1000s of years, they named the full moon for every month, it was that important to them

Yes I saw that spectacular low full moon myself when driving home at 5.30....was straight infront of me with not a cloud in the sky which was mad after the day we had.

Does it effect us, well the moon has a direct effect on the tide they say and our bodies are 70% water so I guess it probably has some effect

The moon creates the tide because gravity between the earth and the moon pulls on the earth and everything on it including the water. The gravitational effect on a planetary scale is very powerful between large bodies, but the effect on tiny little human bodies is miniscule. Unmeasurably small. A massive amount of water is needed to see any effect. Even large lakes don't see an effect.

The moons gravitational efgect doesn't effect human bodies at all. Sorry.

It's true that the moon's gravitational pull is minute on even large lakes but it is what makes the water rise in and out on lakes which we all can see.

No disrespect but I think that answer look at this question from a purely scientific point of view. If people truly feel emotional different and can say that the moon plays a part then than that's a subject feeling and I think it's a bit unfair to say sorry yere wrong. Now I have no authority to say their correct but it every opinion is valid to the person who believes it. It's like saying that vision boards and laws of attraction are nonsense, if people believe it and their happy leave them off.

Ive observed this over the years. What ive observed is that women's periods are often in synch with new moon, or full moon. Which comes first, the period, the ovulation, or the moon phase? I believe the phases of the moon have an effect on us humans, and animals,... and tides, and storms.
