I shower every morning and someone recently told me that I'm high maintenance for doing so so I wanted to ask how often do you shower? I recently came to realise that many people only shower once every few days or even longer! ...and that freaks me out, and then being called a dirty Irish really annoys me!! |

At least once a day, every day. Sometimes twice. Every morning and every evening after training.
I've a friend who is in the every few days camp and another who doesnt use any soap or shower gel or anything. Filthy bastards.
Once a day should be the absolute minimum.

I mostly shower every day or ever second day i train so must shower and i bath once a week to get a good shave. If i am in a rush or don't get a chance i have a quick wash in the areas that count. I always have deodorants and perfume as i hate the thought of having a BO just a bit of a clean freak lol. Washed away but i think it's better to be clean then the opposite, i try not wash my hair everyday as it's not great for it. OP be happy with yourself, it's your body how is it high maintenance that's such a silly statement to make if you ask me. |

Exactly my sentiments!!! I get so annoyed that us Irish get branded the "dirty Irish" because some people dont wash themselves for days if not longer! Like jesus, I dont mean to sound like a snob bit it's my pet hate lol |

"Once a day - bare minimum.
Sometimes it could be up to 5-6 times in one day though depending on activities "
The cleaner you are, the dirtier you can get!
I couldn't start the day without a shower, and I'd rarely get into bed without one either-no matter what time of day it is! |

I tend to bath once a day definitely but would typically grab another bath or shower before heading out for the night or too a social/meet! Can never be too high maintenance when it comes to personal hygiene more high maintenance the better right! That goes for brushing teeth too .. |

"One a day in the morning.
Sometimes I’ll have a 2nd rinse if I’ve got a meet. Hair gets washed every day.
I had a meet with a guy and he had showered the night before. Big mistake. HUGE. Yuk. "
I've actually asked several guys to jump in the shower before fun! Does that make me high maintenance lol |

Summer or winter, 5am shower before work, another to wash away the days stresses when I'm back at 8pm no matter how tired..water running is natures great way to cleanse mind body and spirit..healers gravitate towards water..we're 70% water..its instinctive and automatic |

Controversially, I do not have a rigid policy of showering or bathing daily, because I believe that this depletes the skin of its natural oils and secretions that naturally cleanse the skin.
After exercise, vigorous walking, or working in the garden, I always have a bath, and I have a policy of only shaving about twice weekly; every day shaving is too rough on my sensitive facial skin.
Ladies, the feeling of shaving one's face after a hot bath is one of the most pleasurable experiences imaginable, especially if you haven't shaved for more than four days.
Historically, daily bathing is only a recent phenomenon and I actually personally know a guy who has not bathed for decades, although he is not an attractive sight.
Furthermore, he never removes his clothing, there is no running water in his home and he has no bedding. He never shaves, never has his hair cut. Frankly, he smells and in the summertime he is attractive to flies and other insects.
So, from one extreme, more that daily washing to the other end of the continuum, I experience it and see the outcome.
Every couples of days and after exertion is fine, in my experience.
The Irish are no more dirty or clean from my observations of societies, ethnicities or races!

Every day, occasionally might miss a day. Fyi much more important to have a clean towel than body, an old wet towel will give you a Staph infection in time. |

Now I'm not Irish but as far as I know the expression 'dirty Irish' goes back to a time of emigration, anti-irish sentiment and oppression. To transfer that to nowadays and taking it literally is bit eyebrows rising...
Anyhow depending on work and/or other activities a daily shower might be needed. More than once a day is not recommended by medical experts, it can dry out or even damage the skin. On that basis I shower on average every second day. |

Guess I'm a minger then!
About 3/4 times weekly all other things being equal. Obviously depending on exertion/activity/weather this may be more often. The fact I don't shower daily doesn't mean I don't wash daily though.
I find daily showering to be incredibly drying on the skin, plus I'm old enough to remember the days of the weekly bath

Every morning first thing when getting up. I'm like a cave man grunting before i have one.
On top of that always before fun aswell and usually after too if everything went well.
I honestly would think its weird not to have a similar routine, but I guess that's just what I'm used to for the last 2-3 decades

Showering frequently is probably OK if one does not use soap every time as this tends to deplete the skin's (by far the largest organ in your body) natural oily protection.
I used to do a very job; I bathed every day that I worked; the bath water would be filthy afterwards with a layer of grit and residue when I pulled the plug.
If I didn't have a bath, occasionally through exhaustion, I would have to vacuum my bed the next morning! |

I wouldn't ask anyone to shower if I met them, but then if a guy turned up to meet me and was not clean I wouldn't be having sex with them either. If they can't be bothered to be clean why in god's name would I want to have sex with them. |

Sorry but this blows my mind, some people shower ever 3/4 days?
That it pure rank, surely everyone showers minimum daily, I don’t get going for the day before I shower.
Every day after I wake up, shower and good to go.
Shower immediately after a run/sports.
I would have thought that’s standard |

Surely that’s an expected given, shower and be clean before any meet. |

"The threads here are getting worse by the day
Or did you mean "dirtier"?
Very quick there lol
But no I didn't mean that "
Next thing you'll be asked how often you brush your teeth, how long you spend doing it, whether you floss, use mouthwash, spit or swallow, how often you go to the dentist - you get my drift |

I shower often . I dont have a bath. But all that shampoo is very bad for your skin. Does anybody here use beer as a shampoo? It gives a great lather in hard water areas.
Has anybody tried showering in the rain, its such a pleasure. |

Yeah, showering in the rain, out the back garden, fantastic
And you're right, all the shampoos and washes strip the skin of its natural defences
I skip the shampoo every second shower and use Faith in Nature body wash, it doesn't have all the hard chemicals that others have |

You’d have to be showering every day.
Something wrong if not. Unless it was to do with cost of electricity/hot water.
If that’s the case then we have failed as a country.
But showering every day is a must for those who can.

If I didn't have a bath after a very dirty day at work, the dirt that wasn't washed off would end up on the bottom sheet, and have be vacuumed off next morning, otherwise the following night would be like sleeping on sandpaper
If you can acclimatise to it, cold showers are best; extremely invigorating and excellent for circulation!

Ah memories of London
The Irish shower was basically wiping pits and bits with a facecloth and spraying with deodorant, when you were in a rush
Personally it's every 2 days, unless I actually break a sweat doing some work (rare) or might have an opportunity to break some sweat with an attractive woman.
Yes, I remember when a weekly bath was the standard, unless someone had left the immersion on by mistake on a random day and everyone was piled into the bath as a result, to make use of the full tank of hot water

Never... As I don't have a shower. Lol.. As soon as I get home from work it's straight into the bath as I wouldn't find the time to run one before work at 5am. Babywipe the boyos and a quick splash of soap and water around the kisser each work morning too. Oh and every Saturday morning, sometimes the evening too if I'm going out, and Sunday before bed... Jeez I sound like I have a problem |

Not good to shower everyday and for a long time, or to wash your hair every day...I have a cold shower after the gym in the morning and a 5 min shower after work... |
