Starting a new job in two weeks time.
For the last 3 weeks I've been trying to sort a place, but it seems Impossible. Half the listings on rent.ie are actually not available, or they take forever to get back.
I've everything needed, several references, deposit etc.
So Dubliners is there anything I'm missing or anywhere else I should check out?
Quite a random place for this kind of post but would appreciate any help |

Rentals are like hens teeth in Dublin, really do feel sorry for renters at the moment poor choice and extortionate rents, if I was starting out again I think I'd sleep in my car |

A lot of the shortage is caused by the rules and regulations brought in by various Governments in the past few years and if a land lord has a problem it takes too long to get it sorted.
The present minister brought in a number of laws to help tannants and landlords. when they are studied there is nothing in them for landlords.
6 out of every 10 houses sold in Dublin last year were ex rentals.
If a house is coming vacant now the neighbours or the tennants that are moving out contact the landlord with a new tennant, that is if its good quality accomodation and the price fairly reasonable
I wish you luck |

Not sure of your circumstances but if you have your own means of travel I'd rent somewhere away from Dublin and commute in. Accommodation is hard get in Dublin- let alone good accommodation at an affordable rate.
Best of luck in the search and the new job |

If you can put out the word within your company that you're looking for a place; years ago when I worked south of Dublin I was having difficulty getting a place, but through some contacts I managed to get a room in a building owned by the company, and use of a bathroom and kitchen.
It was a bit rough but was OK for a single guy.

Trying to find a room in dublin is horrible. Anything reasonably priced has loads of suitors, try make decent first impression through the email.
When you get viewings it’s almost like a job interview. Best of luck |
