We host partys across the north and now for the 4th time newspapers have reported on our events?
Our website and mailing list are open for all to see but to have a journalist copy and paste text is simply lazy.
We aren’t doing anything wrong … maybe some would consider taboo but is it really news worthy? |

In short yes it new worthy because people click to read the story.
Other people having sex is always going to be of interest the less conventional the better |

People love to read about things they wish they were involved in but aren’t for various reasons….
There’s frequently a sex party at my place, some time other people may even attend….. |

It's a sad state of affairs! Don't worry about them - any publicity is good publicity, not that you want it  vanilla folk will love to read an article about you, that's just nature, but they will be having missionary with the light off once a month!! You win |

Not to be controversial or anything but in recent times the north has been shown as being stuck in the past and backwards. Refusing to make that cake, the actions of a certain unionist party. The us against them mentality against communities. |

It’s an honest opinion on my own life experience in the north, maybe some people who have no idea how the north operates or have experienced may find controversial. But you can expect that from some people. I’m sorry you find my post controversial, maybe you should take some time a read up about North and not just what is portrayed in the news. |

N Ireland is unfortunately stuck in the past. People are always shocked when I say what I like and what I enjoy. They still think we all throw out keys in the bowl hahahaha!
We will still be attending your nights and enjoying being free to be ourselves.

Unfortunately I think Ireland (North and South) is still easily scandalised about anything involving sex. So it is newsworthy in that sense - people love to feel "morally superior" |

I agree that sex is still very much scandalised in NI. It's a parochial place where, locally, everyone knows everyone and everything is everyone's business. It's changing though, as the generations pass. We'll get there eventually but there will always be people who are not open to a more liberal lifestyle.
Going back to the point re what is newsworthy, printed news - and especially local printed news - is dying. A quick look at any local paper will reveal many stories lifted straight from the book of faces and other social media. They have pages to fill to justify people putting their hands in their pockets to pay for a few pages of newsprint because how people receive their news has evolved so much. |

Even when I told a work colleague what I was doing at the weekend (swingers social) she was like "Ewwww!" I was like "wtf do you think I'm doing that's ewww??"

News will be news OP and i think it's good for society to see what swing is about. I never heard of it until five years ago and it will potentially help with the stigma around it. |

I was nosy and googled, could only find one from 2020.
It did make me laugh that they indicated that your party launched the cv pandemic - You had a party and then there as a worldwide pandemic 
It was such a gossipy tone that the people its aimed at will love being outraged. So yes that makes it newsworthy.

I think its part of the culture of a place. In France there's a swingers club in every town.In Germany the same. It doesnt make the news. In some european countries swingers have their facepics on their profiles. Its normal behaviour. However in Ireland, north and south there is still a prudishness, judgement, even obsession with sex. We, as a people can be quite primitive in our attitude to sex, swinging, etc. It sells newspapers, and unfortunately that perpetuates the cycle of ignorance. I think the North has a long way to go, because of its history, before swinging clubs become a normal expression of people having fun. Perhaps another generation. |

I don't necessarily agree with the small minded people thing. It's very much generational and I don't think that is exclusive to Northern Ireland. If I even just look at my own family, the difference between the attitudes and beliefs in each generation is huge. I also don't think it has much to do with our experience of the troubles. I think it's much more to do with the church-going culture. That's gradually being diluted too. So whilst you say small-minded I say more traditional in their views of life love and the universe. I always try to put forward a more liberal perspective when having discussions with my parents but I don't expect them to always understand. They were brought up in different times |

Is there any such thing as bad publicity? The article can put whatever editorial slant on it they want but if it reaches someone already harbouring an interest or fantasy, it could direct them your way and into the lifestyle.
It was a Sindo article (expose) of parties in Dublin - many moons ago - that opened the conversation between us and it outlined the practical way into the scene... which we followed. |

If there was the remotest possibility that a fab social was going to be featured in print media, I would not attend.
NI is generally more conservatively minded than the South, and attitudes change here very slowly here.
Swinging for many here would still be regarded as unacceptable behaviour.
I prefer to be discreet and they to keep my private life under wraps.

Any publicity is good publicity
I think its still newsworthy as people attitude to swinging is still quite taboo.
I've had messages from guys on here regarding socials wondering what happens, giving out that mainly guys that have asked to attend, some people even in here think a social or mng is a complete free for all and orgy |

That news report was inaccurate… we hosted and stayed within all guidelines… yet again lazy journalism.
