It gets spelled in a variety of ways, sometimes in ways that are hard to understand.

Mind you, my own attitude is that if I understand what the person is trying to say then the spelling mistakes aren't a major problem.

Not read all of thread.

Single.

Definitely most misspelled word on Fab.

Some is the cause of the classification system, let's be honest.

The rest is the choice of the individual.

Saw a female joining today, single, yet 2 pics of her and 6 pics of her male partner

What's wrong with a Couples profile and separate female profile but be clear in the first sentence!

I know! Who am I to preach, as a single male on here, I know.

Guess what?

For the lazy fuckers too busy to read a profile, I clearly state I'm married in first paragraph on profile so

Yeah, Single is the most overused word on Fab, for both sexes

"I can never remember how to spell "manoeuvre" (had to Google that one)

Too many vowels! "

There are many different correct spellings of this word, depending on where on the planet it is being used: the principal other spelling is maneuver, mainly in the US and US associated countries.

Users of this word appear to be given a lot of latitude in its use. I have also seen maneuvre being used.

By *ubal1Man  over a year ago

Newry Down

Use of the word principle or principal is noteworthy.

The most common error on this site is discrete, which means separate from, and discreet, the intended meaning!

In my opinion the most grating misuse is the substitution of gone with went; but that is now so common that misuse is an inaccuracy as it is used pervasively.

Language changes over time and words acquire new meanings and uses.

Many of the purported inaccuracies in spelling on this site may not actually the poster's fault; the manner in which the software predicts the spelling of a word, with an identical prefix, such as discr... that is not then corrected by the poster, may be an issue, sometimes.

Maybe you are right, maybe a sentence should not have as many a one hundred words but, if the sentence makes sence and can be understood by everyone who reads it then I don't see it as a problem though, if the length of the sentence causes one to forget it's beginning or be unable to follow the thread or import of it's intended meaning then in that situation the creator of the sentence would be well advised to use or emloy shorter or more pithy statements and phrases so as to facilitate the reader's comprehension of what the creator of the sentence intended in the first place.

After all my effort. How rude!

TLDNR means "Too Long; Did Not Read." The abbreviation TLDNR is used with the meaning "Too Long; Did Not Read" as a succinct, pointed and (perhaps) rude response to a post or message that the recipient considers too long and has, therefore, not read.

"There’s only one I trip up on…

Affect/Effect"

This used to give me trouble too

Remember 'affect' is a verb - I affect, you affect, she affects etc

And 'effect' is a noun e.g. "The effect was amazing"

Hope that helps!

Who really cares, i wouldn't be letting it bother me, people misspell or misuse grammer for a reason. So if you ask me it's just another way of picking on people so all of you grammer geeks or teachers please save it for your job and just get over it. Give people a break on here.

Wouldn’t really bring it up at all, just a peev. Like the point isn’t to belittle someone. A lot of people don’t bring it up at all. Think it might be an OCD kind of thing.

So people's education issues are ok to be brought to light while ocd is ok. Either way i just viewing it like this because it's been like this before aswell. I understand what you mean everyone has issues even the people who think they don't, but i am just saying how i see it aswell and standing for those who have issues here in this area.

No I’m saying it’s the person who it annoys’ problem, it’s why I said it’s like an OCD kind of thing. It’s not a big deal once you can understand what someone is trying to say, whatever. I’m just saying it’s a thing, some people care, some people don’t.

Is it really ocd though really as i think ocd gets thrown around to much as an excuse when really it's sometimes others just feeling superior because they have good spelling/grammar.

Na well I get what you’re saying. Some people just use it to smart/sarcastic on the internet.. but like for me it’s just specific words or phrases being misspelt that annoy me. Majority of the time I don’t care at all, it’s just specific words or phrases

Ok well try not let it annoy you and actually have a bit of empathy for people who may have learning difficulties.

I’d never correct someone unless I knew them really well or they were being a dick.. but yeah I don’t think belittling someone for spelling mistakes is cool..

No in my book it's not cool anyway as you have absolutely no idea what a person is going through behind a screen. I don't think people come on fab forums to be corrected for spellings/grammer, it's usually school for that.
