I haven't seen a decent horror in ages so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I like scary ones not just ones that are all gore tho.

Both more psychological horror but I was quite struck with St Maud and Censor. Slightly older but The Witch was also great.

Loved the slow burn on the witch, great pick.

For something odd, try out the 1973 version of the wicker man.

Agreed on all. I also reccomend Blood on Satan's Claw and Witchfinder General as oldies if you enjoy the Wickerman. Big horror fan here but not a lot to reccomend currently, did see a good Welsh one called The Feast last night that a friend recommended

To be fair, the overwhelming majority of horror films are absolute and utter shite. The biggest horror about a lot of them is just how fucking abysmal they are.

Have to agree...its hard to be horror fan lol. Generally speaking the good stuff doesnt get to the big cinemas (ie you can be sure if something advertised as "scariest film ever" in VUE it's absolute shit) and theres so many knockoffs..but when you find the good stuff it's great

Newry Down

For several weeks in 2007, I was able to watch at close quarters a horror movie called Shrooms being filmed in Gosford Forest Park in County Armagh.

That experience simply demystified the horror film genre for me, and I have never watched one since!

Shrooms was essentially about a group of American kids who came to Ireland to experiment with magic mushrooms and are preyed upon by a predator.

Within horror movie circles I believe it is well regarded for its realism and production values.

No probs.

Bear in mind, it starts out like a crime drama, but slowly turns into a horror as it goes on. And the ending...

Agree on Kill List, it's very good.

Another British horror is 'Ghost Stories'. Very freaky and has some serious jump scares and twists!
