How do you decide ?

How do you come to a conclusion of truth ? Are you rational ?

What does being ration mean to you ?

Do your beliefs stand on their own merits ? Are they faith or fact based ? Are they nuanced ?

When have you last changed your mind on something you never thought you would ?

Have you changed your mind often on things you were resolute about ?

It's ALL about evidence and data gathering. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

... and some people think they are rebels and thinking for themselves when in fact they are just idiots that grasp on to every crackpot theory they hear because they haven't the brains god gave the goldfish to help them tell the difference.

Data and statistics. The ability and desire to research and find them isnt that common though unfortunately.

"First impressions and gut instinct are rarely wrong."

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and method of how they make decisions but I always find claims like this to be somewhat frightening.

I just chuck the bones on the ground and ask them questions.......

Either that or tea leaves, magpies or the first song I hear on the radio.

From what I hear, these days it's all about everyone having their own truth.

Instinct and not wasting my time analysing things that don't directly affect me.

Those that do affect me are dealt with on a case by case basis without a blueprint or roadmap.

Id love to say it's always through facts and figures but sometimes my own expiriances and instincts counteract the information I'm given.

I'd like to think I'm rational but I'm so self aware enough to know that at times my own personal feelings can cloud my rational.

I change my mind on subjects often enough but they tend to be gradual changes of outlook than deciding to uturn because of one particular argument

"How do you come to a conclusion of truth ? Are you rational ?

I come to a conclusion of truth based on evidence. Real evidence which can be verified by all.

The very idea that "faith" would inform my truth would be offensive to my critical faculties.

That is what being rational is for me. Evidence, actual véritable evidence, available to all to check, informs my decisions and my truth.

Very manipulative depending on what outcome is desirable

I always try to understand that I have my own biases when coming to a conclusion over something.

I do look at data compiled by researchers too, but always ask what was the intent of the study.

If the intent was to prove or disprove something I tend to be more wary. But if the intent is to come to a conclusion, regardless of outcome then I'm all for it.

Usually it's a mix of gut instinct, a bit of research from reputable sources and seeing if said evidence stands up to some scrutiny. Hasn't failed us yet especially if it comes to here.
