What’s your thoughts? Maybe someones grammar isn’t to your standard or liking, but there could be several reasons for that and it’s not the persons fault. They’re not doing it on purpose.

The odd spelling mistake or grammatical error doesn't bother me at all.

Some people's absolute laziness is forming a coherent message can annoy me at times tbh

I don't mind as long as its clearly understandable. Double negatives, of/off, txtspk, and question marks at the end of sentences do make it difficult.

I would agree with you.

But where would comedians get their material if not for where weaknesses, faults and differences can be found

Is political correctness so so important that we can't see comical aspects anymore in everyday life? Do we all need to get personally offended because someone starts a thread on a topic where human weakness is addressed, usually not in the name of offence but to add some light entertainment?

I usually give people a bit of leeway on places like this for grammatical errors - everyone's only human after all.

But in general it can be tedious when people cut corners in messages as it can add a layer of complexity to what should be a straightforward interaction.

In my mind it's only fair that you're accountable for how you write and it reflects on how you conduct yourself.

A lit of problems are created by predictive texting that users do not then correct, either through their decision that the error is inconsequential or that they don't realise an error has occurred at all.

Some messages on this site are unintelligible; I used to correct some errors but now almost invariably do not bother, principally because of the adverse reaction from some people.

It is not pedantry, but a desire for precision.

Some commonplace errors are now seen so often that they are no longer as being erroneous. E.g: the use of gone and went used inappropriately!

I don't care if people makes mistakes when writing we all do. I do find it petty when it's pointed out as a way to put the other person down .

I personally don't like text speak mainly because I don't understand most of it and have to google a load of it .

But one thread in particular springs to mind on here when a man posted a thread asking for some advice. His thread was quite hard to read but if you took a couple of seconds you could understand what he was asking. The poor guy got ripped to shreds on here over it. One person even suggested he was d*unk one told him he should go back to school.I did actually answer his question and a few others came in after and did as well but the majority just took the piss out of him . Some of whom post on the be kind threads as well.He came back in and apologised for his spelling and actually explained he had severe dyslexia but was doing his best he left the site later that day. That man should never have had to explain to complete strangers about that.just because they decided it was fun to take the complete and utter piss out of him.

Now the other thread on here was not started with that mentality and I think it is just light hearted so it's definitely not in the same league as that at all .

But just reading the headline on this one made me think back to that thread it seems to be a rarity though than the norm thank goodness.

There is no excuse for text speak.. Its bad manners and displays a clear lack of intelligence.. Very few people these days are illiterate so there is no excuse..

Agree with this. Mistakes fine. Text speak - we can become judgemental.

How people present and communicate can indicate intelligence and sense of fun, both can be attractive - there’s a subjective balance for everyone.

We’re not precious when it comes to people pointing out our grammar/ spelling mistakes either... so let loose on us without fear of grammar nazi labelling.

I don't mind the occasional spelling mistake or auto correct blooper at all, but text speak is a major no go.

If I have to spend minutes to try and decipher the meaning of a message, chances are that I won't bother responding

Most grammar Nazis I have met are a bunch of pedantic egocentric educated fools. It's uncool, and the height of ignorance to belittle a person who struggles with syntax and grammar.

Some of us who are more right brained and creative, who aren't neuro-typical tend to have problems transposing their stream of consciousness into clear concise sentences.

Please remember, education is NOT indicative of intelligence.

I've never based my opinion on someone by their spelling ability either online or in daily life.

The only time I've ever corrected someone's grammar or spelling was in a work related situation where one of our biggest customers were very pedantic over things like that and it would have reflected badly on us.

I've been accused of correcting someone's spelling twice on here when I had done nothing of the sort.

On a thread asking if people had kept a diary growing up the op used the word dairy in the title instead.

A few others joked about milking it and I responded by saying I never had because I was diary intolerant.

That was enough to be accused of being a grammar nazi.

I find my spelling mistakes happen cos I'm typing too fast and it autocorrects to a different word or fails to do so and I hit submit before checking my message!

I’d actually be more wary of capital letters than spelling mistakes.

If someone starts a post in the forum with the title in capital letters, I immediately think “oh fuck, here we go”

Seen it multiple times before even making fun of immigrant's spelling but it's all "banter" and a bit of "fun" for a lot of people eh?

I try to make sure my own grammar and spelling are correct because it annoys me but I don’t judge or correct others who make mistakes anymore…it’s a dickish move imo
