It looks like the hse have extended the counties they cover.
SH:24.ie availability by County
As of 8th December, free home testing is available in the following counties:
Cavan
Cork
Donegal
Dublin
Galway
Kerry
Kildare
Laois
Leitrim
Louth
Mayo
Meath
Monaghan
Offaly
Roscommon
Sligo
Wicklow
This means that if you are aged 17 or over, with an address in one of these counties, you can order a free STI test to your home. There are a set number of kits available to order per day.
Instructions are provided on how to complete the test kit and a stamped addressed envelope is provided to post the completed test kit back to the lab. You should receive your results by phone or text message within 72 hours of the samples arriving at the lab.
Support is available from SH:24’s clinical team by phone or text message. |

I have one ready to use on Tues when the post is back on. Really handy & confirmation of receipt & results come back quick.
I would suggest making sure you do the bloods the same day you're posting so that it doesn't clot |

"Which STIs does it test for?
And, is the packaging it arrives in discrete?
Thanks."
Yes discrete unmarked package.
Been using it a while now and great service. Has saved a lot of time going to clinic.
---------
People should be aware of the 'window', that's the time it takes from catching the STIs to showing up on the test. Many forget or are unaware of this. |

Which is why it's so important that everyone tests regularly and informs all current and previous partners, especially in case of a positive result. |

It does indeed. I posted that as there may be some who wouldn't look or know and just see their text saying they are clear. They are 'clear' of anything showing at the time of the test, so regular testing is vital as a few weeks or month later the test could pick something up. |

Great service.
Just a side note for users. Sti do not only manifest below the waste. I had clear test once before including bloods. I did have an infection in my eye though that was only diagnosed from an eye swab. So be cafeful. Pink eye/stink eye can actually be more sinister |

Very discreet packaging and results come back in a few days. It's a great service and I highly recommend it to anyone thats sexualy active. |

We use this too every 3 months but once a year we also do the clinical one because these at home tests do not test your throat and since not many go down on someone using protection (condom or dam)…
Get your throat/mouth tested peeps both men and women |

Your kit will include tests for: chlamydia (genital), gonorrhoea (genital), HIV, and syphilis (EIA)
This is what it's testing for.
I've just ordered one. I normally buy a Groupon deal for sti testing in Blackrock clinic in Dublin. Uts always between 50/70. My GP does not do STI screening. Dublin is the closest which is shocking. |

From the FAQ on the site
If your test shows you have an infection, we'll text you and help you get treatment. A SH:24 clinician might call you to talk about your treatment. We’ll always text you first to agree a time to speak.
I guess you would be referred back to your own gp for treatment |

You need to get the blood flowing so having a hot shower before makes it so much easier. |

I wasted mine.
I've unreasonable gut wrenching fear of needles and absolutely hate getting my fingers pricked.
Once I've seen the size of vial that needs filled with blood and realised one prick won't be enough - I noped the hell out of it.
Much rather go to a clinic and do it the old fashioned way.
Great and noble service.
I bow to everyone who has the courage to fill that gigantic blood vial, but I just don't have the guts for it

In fairness the clinics in Ireland are amazing. I was there recently for my yearly full screening and the midwifes are just so lovely so friendly and caring. We were chatting about sexual Health services and they was telling me since the Sh24.ie system rolled out more people are attending clinics as there's not as much stigma attached to sexual health with so many people availing of this service. I had this same conversation with them PreCovid and back then the average person who was attending the clinic was only going as they had symptoms. Now people are attending for regular checks instead of waiting for issues to develop. |

I was nervous doing that myself too. Infact I had the pack ordered two months ago and put it off until recently. It comes with three impliments to 'prick yourself'. I wasted the first one trying to figure out how it works but I needed to use the remaining two to get enough blood. I imagine next time I'll only need to use one as I have more confidence with the method. |

Dirk pricked his finger to show me that it wasn't a big deal. It made me nauseous to the point where I turned into a toddler, sat in on the kitchen floor and refused to continue making dinner.
Genuinely despise finger pricks - even the wee tiny ones you have to do at the doctors where they only draw a drop of blood, never mind filling that bucket ??
I'm just a big baby when it comes to needles - even after the year that I had I still am extremely dramatic every time a Doctor or a nurse comes at me with a needle. Not a chance on this planet I could do it to myself.
Clinic for me all the way |

Something to look out for. I had a kit that I ordered towards the end of last year and they say that they have a 6 month expiration but it's been less than 3 months. Checked the expiration date on the blood vial and it was recently expired. From what I can tell they will check if its still testable if its not too far out.
Anyone that still has a test tucked away somewhere, check the date and use it if you can. The more the service gets used the more it will be supported and available I'm sure. |

It's one of those things that is much worse in your mind than it is in reality and once its over you'll wonder why you worried about it at all.

Follow the instructions. Warm shower defo helps and keep the pricked finger over tube, no waving it about, you can do that later
Then those who are used to milking cows, goats, or other such creatures will have a head advantage |
