Just got sent a screen shot of a planned lorry & truck protest on the roads to Dublin tomorrow - just putting it out there in the event that you’re commuting to the city.

They are absolutely right in my opinion. I will be affected by the protest but I fully agree with them.

Yep all motorways into Dublin will be subject to a rolling road block.. Not fun for people with hospital appointments and the likes but yeah diesel is a rip off and I support them fully.. Hope they grind everything to a halt..

It's the only weapon they have to make the government sit up and take notice. And I know its no fun for folks trying to go about every day life.

I am fully behind the truckers and farmers. Grind it to a standstill and show the government we aren’t happy with fuel prices.

Seen them all starting to line up at kilcock last night. As a business owner I fully support them. Price of everything is gone up because of the cost of fuel. So best of luck to every single one of them.

They won't get my understanding. Blocking roads in the busiest time of the year is a shit idea, their action is impacting negatively on many other businesses today.

The increase of fuel prices has affected everyone not just them, and it's not just since this autumn that we know 52% on fuel is tax.

Stop voting for the same bunch of crooks would be more effective.

They can protest all they want. The government will do nothing. Everything in this country is overpriced because of tax. The government aren't going to do anything that hurts their bottom line. They don't care who is suffering or struggling as long as they get their pound of flesh. Only way to get their attention is to actually storm the Dail. Put the fear of God into them. Remind them that they are elected to act in the best interests of the people not the businesses that line their pockets.

Rather than storming the Daily maybe the people should just remind at election time?

Pretty sure the effect of fuel increases has affected machinery and haulage more than the average joe soap. Also doing it at this time of the year is far more effective and makes more news so hence why they do it this week as opposed to a quite Sunday morning.

Voting for others isn't an option at present as there is no election so they need to voice their concerns by this method and I think the majority will support them and it brings it to the attention of the decision makers. Plenty of businesses out of work due to pandemic over covid and they got financial support, what support do the haulage and farming sector get to offset the increases in their business?

When did people become aware of the protest I know saw it yesterday.

I'm kind of split on my support. I know they have been hit really heavily with the increased cost as I work closely enough with a few.

But the actual organisation of the protest seems to have been a bit half arsed this time more so than the first one.

A little bit of notice for those who did have important appointments etc... would have probably smoothen put alot of the agro and help garner more support which is what they need in reality

somewhere

They advertised it on facebook a few days ago

They don't advertise a leader of the group so they dont run into legal difficulties with injunctions

They're not an offical group representing the main haulage companies as they have a different representative group who engage with the government

The far right anti Vax loons are doing their best to infiltrate the protest and claim it as part of their agenda but I don't think that's working

I'm heading into the port now so God only knows where I'll end up

This is a global problem that is getting out of control, Voting in anybody wont make any difference.

Hauliers should absolutely get a tax rebate on a portion of tax paid on diesel. We need them. The protests shouldn't be necessary

We really aren't that different tax-wise to other European countries. We are running a big budget deficit also so we can't afford to reduce the tax burden.
