I'm not a Hamilton fan but he had about 12 seconds advantage before the last safety car and had to lap about 5 cars ahead of Max. Suddenly Max was alongside for a last lap shoot out. I stopped watching F1 a few years ago and this debacle will do nothing to tempt me back. |

Hamilton should of had to give 1st back after cutting the corner in the 1st lap.
Not a massive f1 fan but having a final lap shoot out vs Hamilton strolling to a 12 second win is far more interesting for a casual viewer.

This is what I mean. The rules determined the win not the best car or best driver on the day (and I am not a Hamilton fan) |

The chief steward will be laughing all the way to the bank for the bonus he is bound to get. Controversy bound to improve the tv ratings. And by tv I mean television. |

Oh so torn on this one, delighted for max and well deserved but the decision making of the stewards and race director have had a massive influence if the championship this season. Not a Lewis fan but he's an awesome driver. |

That bit is fairly straightforward forward and the same for all motorsports. Safety car is used to put all the cars together so that its safe for the marshals to come out on track. They know exactly where every car is and so can work at clearing away any crashed car and debris. After that it's a rolling start.
The problem was normally all cars would be allowed drive ahead before the safety car was ended and return to their normal race position but that didn't happen this time. |
