Why are there no real social meets - chat and a few drinks in city centre bar or hotel ?

As a single guy I think these kind of meets are the way forward as its very hard to get into the 'circle' otherwise

there use to be great ones up in belfast attended a few in the wellie park and a few orther places untill some sour person came along and got the papers involved
