The great turn-off: has Covid put single men off sex?

An article in The Guardian today

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/nov/10/the-great-turn-off-has-covid-put-single-men-off-sex

A survey of 5,000 single Americans, by Match, the dating service found that single men are not so bothered about sex these days – 81% said it was less important to them than before Covid.

"It’s most striking in men that they are taking a moment to value relationships and the relationship context of intimate encounters more. And he pointed out that casual sex was down, with only 11% of singles now wanting to date casually."

Just putting it out there to see what the lads here think - food for thought as it were.

I remain unaffected in this regard.

But then I sometimes get the feeling on here that I have sex lower in my priorities than a good majority anyway

Interesting.

Does that mean male Irish fabbers are an outlier?

Interest still there.

Opportunity, availability and ability that's the problem!

Well Fabbers probably are outliers in the sexual sense anyway

81% of everything I do is more important than sex.

It's great, it's enjoyable, it's a lot of fun but it has never dictated my day.

My interests haven’t been affected by covid. I always preferred getting to know people first. It doesn’t always work out but any that do are all the better for it.

In a FWB relationship the friend part always comes first.

Interesting. With Covid I've missed doing the non-sexual things in life the most over the last 18 months. Like with everything you dont get often you tend to realise and appreciate it's value.

yeah it seems likely that the isolation during lockdown made some of the men place a higher value on companionship and intimacy for the future ...

I actually had a wink (yes wink) from a couple from florida today.

That all but confirms the article is correct and American lads aren't bothered

however it also means the Americans know the Irish lads are now the global top shaggers

Most of the above is partly true

It will be interesting if that change is going to be a long term one or if it will revert back to the "old" way of doing things.
