So, this may not go down well with some people, but would I be the only one who doesn't like Adeles new song. Personally I think it's being overplayed far too much already on the radio stations. I wouldn't be impressed by Ed Sheeran, U2 or Dermot Kennedy either. I just find the whole music pure depressing.. but maybe that's what some people like nowadays. |

I dont get the appeal either - 90% of her songs sound like the same dreary, depressing ballad on a loop
She undoubtedly has an amazing voice, but her songs really aren't my cup of tea at all
.....Of course bland, generic, depressing ballads do play well with the masses though as many sketchy boybands show, but you'd think Adele was the 2nd coming of christ to see some of the media hype around her and the new album!
But each to their own of course, music is such a subjective topic after all! |

She's not my thing but her voice is great and she seems like she'd be good craic! The depressing aspect doesn't bother me, I'm just not into ballads. |

It's all just made by people playing it safe. Think of the biggest artists around now, Coldplay, Adele, Ed Sheeran countless others who churn out plastic in one ear and out the other ear shite.
No rock stars around anymore.
Ed Sheeran spawned a generation of little shitheads recording crap in their bedrooms and putting it online.
Nobody fuck televisions out of windows anymore, get arrested, drug busts,it's all bland shite
Fuck Chris Martin and his vanilla fuckin band. |

And yet Coldplay Croke Park was probably the best concert ever in Ireland |

Thé alternatives these days to pop songs are Drill rap and hip hop rather than Rock. The artists might not throw TVs out of windows but plenty of them get arrested and serve time etc.
Not sure why that is , the absence of Rock music . Perhaps the rise of technology means rap and hip hop are easier to make at home . |

Fair point.
Being a fan of guitar based music there just seems to be a shortage of characters in music. People with attitude , that attitude came across in the music. Whether it be the Gallagher's, Johnny Rotten, Kurt Cobain, Madonna, Debbie Harry even Bono. Every decade had numerous memorable characters.
Then along came 2010 and everything seemed to go flat.
Musician's now day's see it as a career choice. No passion in it anymore. Thats the way I see it anyway.

Her debut and her voice is class.
Even if its not your cup of tea you can appreciate the talent.
No one wants to see guys in bands being pricks anymore.
This isnt the 60s.
Chances are lots of people in the audience can live a debauched a life as any rock band nowadays with sex and drugs so who wants to be hearing or seeing others at it |

But the passive approach by these bands translates into the music being produced. There's a reason it all sounds the same. There's a reason every second bloke has an acoustic guitar and sounds like Ed Sheeran. Because it's fashionable.
It's not produced with an passion.
Your right about one thing, it definitely ain't the 60s.

I think she's awesome.
Shes certainly got a particular style of song which she repeats, but the vocals are always outstanding.
She also writes songs that are personal and meaningful to her which is better than the usual nonsense.
Shes also a ride. |

"Hate all her songs there depressing as fuck but have to say she's well able to sing...
"
Pretty much sums it up for me too, her songs are a bit obsessive and stalkery IMO |

Even if you don't like her music you can't argue with her voice. But even so, is she doing anything that Celine Dion, Mariah Carey or Toni Braxton hasn't done before? |

I do prefer Adele to the various earnest young male singer-songwriters with acoustic guitars and plaintive voices. I can't tell them apart from each other. She definitely has her sound and doesn't depart too far from it but that didn't do AC/DC or Nick Cave much harm! |

I agree, I'd probably take Adele over Dermot Kennedy, Ed Sheeran and the rest. It's all subjective, each to their own.
